Just wanted your opinions on the interior one would choose based on metallic black as the exterior colour
1) beige w/ wood trim
OR
2) black w/ aluminium trim
I feel the wood trim exudes a more posh look however the aluminium looks sportier.
appreciate feeback.
thanks

I just picked up a metallic black 335 coupe and I got the coral red w/ gray poplar wood. The red definitely isn't for everyone, but I thought it looked best with the black car.
If you go with a beige or brown interior, then I would get the darker brown wood. (I don't like the lighter wood with any color leather)
If you get the black interior, I do like the aluminum best or the gray wood as a second choice. I picked the gray wood over the aluminum because I thought the aluminum might make it look too busy with too many colors.
To specifically answer your question - I would get the black w/ aluminum over the beige. But, it all comes down to personal choice.
Good luck.

I ordered the metallic black with the saddle brown leather and dark burl walnut wood. Personally I don't like the brushed aluminum, it scratches and you see that style of trim on lots of less expensive sports cars.

Aluminum trim = massive finger prints.

I got the coral red interior with the aluminum trim. So far I havn't had any problems with it (fingerprints), but it's probably to soon to know. Personally I don't think the wood trim looks as good as aluminum.

Ya thats the reason why I got the dark wood finish, It looks very sharp. But the aluminum trim looks more sporty.

I have the Black Saphire metalic exterior on my 335i Sedan with the black leather interior and dark burl wood trim. I felt that the wood looked richer on the sedan and the aluminum looked to cold.

I'm waiting on my 335i, which I ordered with black/aluminum trim. I went back and forth for a while on whether to go with wood or aluminum. I have actually never seen a 335i with aluminum, so I ultimately based my decision on brochure pictures. In any event, because I ordered my car with 6-speed and 19'' wheels (through bmw), I figured I would go with a sportier look inside. I do not have firsthand knowledge concerning scratches or fingerprints, so I suppose time will tell. At the end of the day, I'm only 26, I have the rest of my life to ride around in "luxury." That is ultimately why I chose the aluminum.

Black - aluminum
Beige - wood
Mine is beige leather with the poplar wood trim...looks fantastic. I saw some one else commented about the aluminum and finger prints/scratches. If you are particular about maintaining the interior of car as I am, it will drive you nuts! Good luck!

Does anyone have interior pictures with the grey wood? Its hard to tell from the BMWUSA.com pictures, and all the BMW's at the LA autoshow had other color woods, the one 335i coupe they had was with aluminum trim.

is there enough contrast? In the pictures on the vehicle builder on the bmw website it kinda looks like a sea of black.

I got to see a black interior with aluminum trim right before I order mine, and that's what did it for me...
I was also gunning for a more sporty look and the aluminum trim does make the car look sharper from the inside...that's just my personal preference...

We have wood trim, and it has a highly polished eurethane look. Wood = major sun glare on the dash= pissed off wife.
On the 3 series chose grey or dark poplar.
I would avoid aluminum trims as they leave fingerprints and look my stainless steel kitchen applicances. It is not good that your car remind you of your dishwasher.
also go for the two-tone interiors: coral red (not for me as it looks ordinary), saddle brown (nice). Black (nice but may fade noticeably) is not two tone but nice.
Avoid the monotone interior colors that spill on the dash: beige/creme beige color, grey. Beige makes the dash look like an old computer case (think old machintoshes) - it is the worst interior color IMO.
Too bad there is no jade grey or lemon in the US. That is the best two tone.

I agree with your assessment. I got graphite ext with black/alum with the sedan. Personally, I didn't like any of the wood choices available on the sedan with black leather, so I was firm with getting the alum. However, on the coupe, black with the grey poplar looks nice.
I don't have any fingerprint problems whatsoever, as there's nothing there to touch/access on the trim. But if you have kids or pets, I suppose that could be a factor.
As for the dishwasher comment, that's pretty funny. :) However, I could say having the wood trim will remind you of your kitchen table. So would you rather drive something that looks like an appliance vs. wood furniture? LOL.
As you said wood exudes more "luxury", while alum gives more of an industrial or sporty look. So it boils down to which one you want more. It seems like you like both, which is good, cuz you can't really go wrong (it's what you like, not want others like). If it's an issue of availability (i.e. you like beige/wood but you have to order/wait vs. black/alum is available right now), then it's a slightly tougher decision. The car itself is the biggest thing of course, so some people will say what's the big deal about the trim, but hey you're inside your car and you have to look at the interior everytime you drive, so you SHOULDN'T compromise on something that will affect your happiness with the car.

On the contrary, there is lemon at least in the US. Its a special order item (no dealers get it for lot cars, only customer ordered cars)

I think the gray poplar is just as sporty as aluminum, and less common. I would go gray poplar with either seat color choice. I am guessing its a coupe (gray poplar not avail on sedan)?

Yes, but I got the new version that does not have the lug nuts around the perimeter of the wheel. My dealer said they are brand new.

I have Apline white with Dakota Grey and Poplar Grey - The Poplar Grey looks very nice.
I got the Burl Walnut in my E92. It is beautiful and adds warmth and classic beauty to the interior. Never did like the brushed aluminum. I think they went with the aluminum to save costs...it's much cheaper to produce.

Aluminum, it is a BMW, not a living room. If you want to drive that go get a MB.

i really like those wheels, they must be much sleeker without those lug nuts around the perimeter. very nice:eyecrazy
I would go with the wood and beige. Aluminum gets scratched easily, it being so bright & reflective would just kill my eyes.

Munch1,
It's a BMW, not a kitchen appliance.
Remember, we all have different taste.
Mine lies with the rich wood tone, yours is with the aluminum.
The important thing is that we drive the correct automobile.
Merry Christmas,

Thanks to leather, otherwise people claimed that BMW is a bed room. So how many rooms left not covered?

Yeah, I REALLY wanted the grey poplar trim, but ultimately decided on the Sedan and am still bummed that I had to go with Aluminum.
I know it will look good, but I would rather have had the grey poplar wood.
