Head and tranny question

Was doing some poking around on the 76' and my head has E21 2.0 stamped on it, along with a BMW emblem. Is that a 320i head on there or is it just the head ID code? Also, I have been running Red Line MTF in the tranny. Any body use anything else with better results? thanks.

Aww... i have a 1976 2002 my self.. i too have noticed thoughs markings.. from what the book and people tell me that is the tipe of head you have... (not to shure) i think the 21e has smaller ports to help pass smog in us... as for the euro cars, they have a 12e = more hp (dont really know) as for the tranny couldent tell ya...sorry =(.. hope i could help

The 2002 was produced with three different versions of cylinder head. 121/121ti used on the early cars up to about 1972 the E12 up to 1976 when the E21 was introduced. The E21 was also used on the 2.0 liter 320i with the major visible difference being the lack of a mechanical fuel pump.
