Im new to the forums and am looking around for a new car for next year preferably BMW or MINI. I actually work at the Spartanburg plant currently and have really developed a like for BMW's in particular 3 series and MINI's. I thought I would post here first. I really like the MINI's because of the look and size, as well as the pep they have. Although, I sure get made fun of a lot by my friends for liking them. Hopefully I can own one or a 3 series someday.

What are you looking for in a new car? Do you have a family? Have you test driven a MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper S?

Take a test drive before you do anything else.

P.S. Don't make your choice of automobile be dependent upon what anyone "thinks"! Have the self-confidence to make your own decision. After all, your peers are not forking-out the $$$; YOU are. I am always amazed when the "peer pressure" factor enters into a decision like this!

If you get the Mini, get the S. As far as cars go if you do not need room the Z3 is a great starter or an E36 M3. Really depends on your budget and if you are looking for a track/street, or just a street car to show. Really depends upon your expectations for it. You can get all these cars in really good shape with some mods for under $20 or if you are lookng for a lot of options look to spend a little more. The biggest thing I would do is make a list of the cars you are interested in and check the forums for problems such as the Z3's have rear subframe issues which cost around 3-4 thousand to fix. So do your research and evaluate.

I never said anywhere that I was succombing to peer pressure. I already know what to look for in a car since I've owned a few sport cars in the past and have developed a like for light, quick vehicles over heavy types. The Z3 doesn't really intrigue me...it can get really tiring working on them day after day. You actually get sick of seeing em after a while. Im taking my time in my decision and looking around. The MINI just has that nice appeal to it.

Just using the Z3 as an example of a common problem

Yea, sorry if it came out sounding harsh. The Z3 is a good car.
