Hi all,

Sorry for not searching the forum more carefully to see if this question has been preciously answered; we just moved to Anchorage, it's supposed to snow tomorrow, and I really need some help.

I have a 1996 328ic...I know, I know, why did I bring a convertible to Anchorage, Alaska...later on that...lol

It currently has the stock rims 7Jx15H2. I want to put some Nokian Hakkapeliita II snow tires on it and would really like a 2nd set of rims for my summer tires.

I have an opportunity to buy some 7Jx16H2 rims from someone, but my owners manual says, "modifications to the vehicle are required." I was thinking that I would use the 15" rims for the snow tires and the 16" rims for summer tires.

If that is the plan, what mods are required to run the 16" rims? Also, any recommendations for summer tires?

Thanks in advanced,
Bob

If the whreel is coming off a 3 Series you won't need to do anything other than change the tire size. Just make sure of the bolt pattern and the offset of the wheels.
If I can help let me know.

Excellent choice on the tires, BTW!

I have them and absolutely think they're tops. I long for the day Tire Rack starts carrying Nokian. :)

TireRack was my first choice of supplier, but after driving with the Nokian tire, there was absolutely no question about it. The H2 is a great tire and up here with the temps, snow and ice I really think it was a good choice. Even when it slips, you feel in control; I read one reviewer that called it "self-correcting." My daughter will be driving one of my cars and I really liked the idea as she gains experience driving in these conditions.

Well, I got the H2's on and drove it about. They made a HUGE difference. Now I can't wait for those three days a year I can drop the top...lol :redspot
