Just ordered the 335i Coupe tonight. I went with the 17 inch wheels which were much cheaper.
I live in Canada with bad roads(pot holes) and heard the 17 inch wheels would be a better ride.
Any one with another opinion?

You are probably better off with the 17s because usually a larger wheel brings along with it a shorter distance to the road!

I just took delivery of the same car but with the 18s. I contemplated the 17s for the smoother ride for some rough roads in NorCal but I wanted the sport seats, and increase in RPM and top speed from the sport package.
Dealers in San Francisco area won't do any exchanges so no opportunity to get the sport package with 17s w/o large cost increase.
Either way the suspension is the same; sport or non-sport.
Good luck with your new car. I think you'll be amazed at how cool it is.

But how much do I compromise the appearence of the 335i coupe using 17 inch rims as opposed to 18 in rims
Take a look at the 3 series rim design on the Canadian site

You'll be looking at the 18" wheels on other 335s as soon as you get the car. In the parking lot, in your driveway, at the stop light. That's why I got the sport package with the 18s on my wifes 328xi. Do it. Do it now. Get the 18s. On the 335 I think they look quite good.

Peter, arent those 18" tires PERFORMANCE tires and not winter tires?

Yes, but he has two choices, change the tires or get another set of RIMS for winter. Personally, I can't stand those 17" RIMS.

18s definately look better. Now ask yourself all of the practical questions that only you know the answer to.
I reviewed BMW.ca and there are a lot of wheel tire options for winter driving but the 18s aren't available for the 3 series.
Good luck

Bingo! BMW has given us 3 drivers a goofy combo of RFTs and a tire size that is very limiting.

It kills me that they want $ 2000 for the Sport Package which includes sport seats....that are great if you weigh under 190 pounds...(I just miss the cutoff!) and 18 Wheels that may give you a bumpier ride.
18 in look nicer but I can spend that 2k on Winter Rims and Tires and live with the 17 inches.....HELP

Peter, I agree! I ordered OZ 17" wheels and Im putting the ground-effects pkg. on the car to make up for the lack of 18s.

Factory 18" rims with summer runflat tires would cost you over $2k anyway, wouldn't they? It's worth it alone just for the seats. My advice is get the SP and then buy a set of 17" snow tires. Otherwise you'll waste more money later buying aftermarket wheels and won't have the sport seats you'll covet.
