the blue book is a guidline to START negotiations, I mean if a guy needs the money and someone has a wad of cash,of course the deal could not acurately represent the official blue book price. But you have to start somewhere and that merely gives one a reference.I will post pices but I need a disc to load pics to windows 2000 for a sony cybershot dsc-p2000 anyone have 1 I could borrow or where can I find one?

i am having issues deciphering your gibberish...

but on to the points about the KBB... the KBB is a marginal market guide that even dealers will not use for their own value ratings (they'll use it for yours, in instances such as an e30 m3, which rates out at about $4k... but we all know will sell all day long in the $20k range).

when i bought my latest/newest e46; i paid 10k under blue book value for it... because i paid MARKET value.

you could get an early e36 m3 for around 11-15k; paying that much for a non-m e36 would be a rip-off.

and since you're apparently falling short in your argument and your mental acuity, let me spell it out for you.

dealers do not use the KBB to value their own cars for sale.

they will only try to use it when offering on a trade-in; because of the disparity in the true market value of a car and what KBB will report.

for example, if you tried to trade in an e30 m3... the KBB will say it is only worth around $4k. but, in fact, you will see e30 m3's selling all day long in the $20k range.

For LCB ;) KBB is $6,595 in good condition.

how can you attempt to speak for all dealers?
they will only try to use it when offering on a trade-in; because of the disparity in the true market value of a car and what KBB will report.
if the public has access to online kbb won't they be using it as a guidline?

for example, if you tried to trade in an e30 m3... the KBB will say it is only worth around $4k. but, in fact, you will see e30 m3's selling all day long in the $20k range.
there are few e30's for sale-too few to make broad statements

Honestly...everybody drop this please. Hell, I will start a new thread for you guys : "KBB - Bullshit or not?"

BTW Proceeding with the purchase of the above 96 328i. Mileage confirmed at 165k :( but it was maintained.

Seems like in autos the gas pedal is harder to push than in sticks?? Definitely missing torque compared to my car but then again it is a stock (besides full Dinan suspension).

$5,700...I'm now the thrid owner...previous owner owned it for a little over 110k and has maintenance records. Last big maintence was at 12x,xxx from Dinan when they installed the suspension, they also replaced the brakes, power steering lines, bushings, flushed coolant. Owner had waterpump replaced not to long ago. Tires have good tread on em. Wheels are clean. Drives good. I'm happy...my wife is getting used to it and likes it a lot (she originally wanted an Accord)! I told her once she starts using the car more she will realize she will fall in love with everything that makes a BMW a BMW.

I love the Auto feature on the climate control myself. Set temp and forgot unlike manual where its turn on heat...too hot...lower heat...etc. :buttrock

When you press the pedal all the way down (as opposed to about 90% down) you'll feel the car downshift and lurch forward. Combine that with the "3" Gear (which allows for higher revs, if I'm not mistaken) and you've got yourself some fun right there, even in an auto.

there was an e30 m3 that just went for 19k and some change here, locally... i'll get some other ads.

point remains, KBB spits out 4-5 grand for one, but they'll sell at or upwards of 20k.

i have two very long term, far off in the future car dreams.

one, is to buy an e30 m3 that maybe has a blown engine... and drop in something rediculously fast into it (such as an LS6). and mod it's interior to modern standards.

the other, is to buy an e34 and drop an LSx engine into it. talk about your ultimate daily driver/sleeper.

I see what you're saying with the e34, but I dunno about the e30 m3. It's original S14 or whatever engine is nothing special by todays standards, but an LSx engine would take away from the purity of the E30M. EDIT: Oh, blown engine (not SCed). In that case I see what you're getting at.

E34, definitely as long as it isn't the M5. On a similar note, I saw a turboed 535i that is apparently putting 400+ to the wheels on bimmerbrothers.net. Sleeper indeed. I <3 sleepers. I emailed the guys and they claim it runs side by side with a brand new 550. :luvlove

yeah, there would be no sense in doing it to an e34 m5... if you are going to take on that kind of project, you might as well get the lowest trim model they have... you're going to replace everything that cost it any money!
