View Full Version : What 10's look like in the back.

Here are some shots of what 10" BBS Ch (40et) with 255/35/18 S-03s look like in the back. They look amazing when they are rolling because the wheels tuck in further. Absolutely no rubbing with H$R coilovers. And m3j0n, I'll get some more shots of all four wheels when I have more time :)

What is the point of having 18x10's if you can only fit a 255/35/18 tire? Fenders still have to be rolled I'm assuming.

The fact of running 18x10s maybe:dunno

Simple...looks. My car is a street car so I can compromise.

255 on a 10 is a minor stretch, dude.

I'm surprised they don't rub at all.
Have you taken any hard corners yet?
I'm sure the H&Rs aren't so stiff as to prevent any bodyroll.

Thank you. The first person not anal and had something nice to say. Why are people trippin'. The tires don't even look that stretched. They're stretched but not like the Germany look that's for sure. Those are 255's on 11 or something.

Wow 18s look HUGE on an E36! BBS CHes are a great choice. What width are the fronts? I was considering the 8.5 x 17 CHes all around at one time, but I feel the E36 needs 17s with a deep rim lip style like the factory forged 8.5 x 17s. Good luck--and yes--post more pics PLEASE!

255 SO3s are more like 265s for those so nervous about the stretch going on....

I think they look great, and in all honesty, not too much wider than my 18x9 Fikses with 255 Toyos:

Yea that diff cover is pretty effin sick....

To original poster: Looks Great! :D I wish they made a wider version of my BBS RC's....so for now i just have to stick with 18x8.5 w/ 245/35's...and i had to roll my fender lip to make them work because i take corners hahaha...

I dunno how to quote separately so sorry.
Fronts are 8.5" And the CH's do look big because the spokes go all the way out to the end of the rim.
Yeah the S-03s are wider than most 255s. I had first had PZero Rossos and they were not as wide. The stretch is really not bad.
Gimme your Fikse! I'm planning on new wheels soon and my top two choices are Fikse Profil 10 or Kinesis K28/r. What offset is your rear 9's and who wide are your fronts? They look so sick!
Don't the RCJ's come in 9.5? I may be mistaken.

how was the install

Pretty easy actually.
I had my fenders rolled and just had to pound the gas tank side chasis a little, not much, so that the inner part of the rim won't hit.
Now I can have 5 people in the car and no rubbing!
Could't believe it myself.

Im all for putting nice thick rims on a car, the thickest possible (without looking stupid). But arent you afraid that you will compromise performace with the mismatch tire and wheel? I know I would be. In the last picture t looks like the tire is ending about a 1/2 inch before the wheel lip/bead. But if it works more power to you

You really don't know what you're talking about.

A minor stretch(such as a 255 on a 10) is optimal for performance. I've seen people put a 225 on a 10.5; that's compromising performance.

A 255 on a 10 will probably perform better than a 255 on a 9.

The camera has a lot of parse sp. too where the rim looks like it come out more than with the naked eye. It's the lens of the camera on the Cannon. As for the mis matched tire size, the 10's don't really increase contact patch. It's an illusion because the side walls are stretched.
And as a street car, I don't really notice much of a diffrence than did I with 245's all the way around.

As far as compromising performance, I adjust my swaybars frquently to perform in ways I feel like for example for a while, I had my RD's in the stiffest setting and had really bad understeer as you can imagine with H&R coilovers (if I took a corner reall hard) but on the freeway, it was awsome. Now I have the sways on the softest setting and the car is quite neutral.

The only bad thing about having little sidewall is that the ride is obviously stiffer and you're more suceptable to snap oversteer especially with a stiff suspension set up, where as with a tire with more sidewall, you can feel the tire grip and flex to get a feel as to where you limit is at. It took a while and few close calls to know where my limit was at.

FWIW, a stiffer sidewall is considered a positive thing.

ferrari 288 gt0 ran 255's on a 10 back in the day, mind you it had a taller sidewall. Did I miss a listing of the offset of this wheel. Must be around a 40 right?
