hmmm im in a pickle.....i have a choice between a 93 325is 5spd with 126k on it for cheap, or a 98 328is with 98k AUTO...for a little bit more. the 98 is a salvage title so its cheap, basically it only needs a new nose panel, a front calliper and some touch ups, but ide have to eventually put a 5spd in it.....as u can tell im a very indecisive person so and arguments might help me make my decision haha thanks

I'd say go for the 325is. It may be a slighty smaller engine, but it's already a stick and ODB-1. Easier to tune. Plus I'm a bit biased since that's the same car I have.

Depends upon your plans for the car. A daily driver that you aren't going to attempt to make go fast or play with I'd go with the 328i. If you want to have fun with it, mod it, track it, etc. I'd take the 325.. here's why.

Yes the 328 has a bigger engine, but it's an auto. The limiting factor in performance will always be the tranny. No matter how many things you bolt onto that car the slushbox will limit them. As a daily driver, the 328 is a great car. It will look good, be very responsive in traffic and will be fun to drive. Just don't expect a lot out of it. You can swap the slushbox for a manual but it is relatively expensive and will require a new rear diff. Also, the salvage title will kill your resale value.. keep that in mind too.

The 325 has less oomph but the manual tranny can make up for it. You will get the most out of any mods you make to this car. It's ODB-I which is also a plus for chip mods. This car will be far less expensive to make fast than the 328.

Hope that helped a little bit. :)

-Good Luck!

I spend a great part of my day commuting in traffic jams and gotta say my 328 automatic makes it a pleasure. Granted a stick might be more fun on the open road, but the 328 is a great, relaxing, crusing car.
