A few months ago someone on ebay was selling radio install surrounds with 3 gauge holes below it (amongst other gauge option layouts). I can't find the listings any longer. Does anyone know where to find something like this? Thanks.

build your own, they are extreemly simple to build

all I have left to do is cover mine in leather

just take your old one out and use it as a template

I made mine from 3/8" mtfp wood (smoething like that, flexible fiber board)

my 02 is a 1970, i have the shitty console with crap radio, and a speaker below :redspot so, not much of a template

all you need is the size, you can cut your own holes

just take your new radio's mount part, I dont know hwat it's called, but it slides into the dash, trace it and cut

dont cut a speaker hole if you dont want it

I put in flip switches for fuel & electric fan, and guage holes on mine

The part from parker fits very well and I doubt you could make one for close to the price unless you owned a machine shop or were not charged any labor. Laying out the part with a template and machining all the holes would probably take at least and hour not to mention purchasing a piece of material.

Spend your time customizing the item from Parker, I bonded a CF panel onto my panel and then chose to open only two of the 2.25" gauge holes and relocated my hazard switch to the center gauge position.

anyone with basic wood skills can make one with 3 $ worth of wood (that's what 2 sheets cost me) I already had drill bits for the hazzard switch, and guages

I have not skinned mine yet

True! I assumed that someone might want to fashion the panel from a metal plate. Wood is definitely easier to machine and will not cost near as much.

My leather-covered Parker Performance console (Behr AC version) with DIN touch panel head unit... I didn't think the cost was too much considering the fit/quality (and the fact I didn't have the time to fab a replacement console faceplate of my own.)

the yellow one has pwoer front and reat windows. The console is actually extended along the hump back to the e brake3. sorry if this makes no sense. I dont have my glasses on and can't see chit! It was made of plywood and then we covered it in some carbon fiber film.

:lol

Back in the day I thought it provided a striking contrast with the white exterior and motorsport stripes because I also had a red leather shift knob and red racing belts.

The MOMO shift knob changed to an orange color over time and has since been replaced. It is not for everyone, but I like it.:buttrock

I made my own out of some .093 aluminum, took about an hour. I put the stock ashtray/hazard piece behind it. Welded a couple of side pieces on and covered it with some left over material from a 1956 Tbird resto that I did.

I need to recenter the whole thing, I made a couple of aluminum brackets to keep the consol from moving around and it's a little off ( hence the gap on the one side )

Esty, your 2 tone looks like a totally different car. I wonder how many people that saw it would be able to identify it from the interior picture. With the dash recolored, ite changes the whole appearance. At least to me it does. How close is your interior red to the red on the car?

it's not close at all...inside the shop as much as i've tried, i can't get a picture that shows the interior colors properly...it must be the florescent lighting i use...the lighter color is a very close match to BMW's Pearl Beige..the darker is Maroon...the one of the door panel below is a more accurate representation of the colors i used...you can see the red car around it

I know you do alot of your own stuff. Did you redo your own seats and the paint? My M2 has maroon/malaga colors like your 02on the panels http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b372/merlin530i/Cars%20FS/m2d.jpg
I always thought you were in Ca. I will have to stop in and say hi one day, only a state or so away.

i am originally from socal...we moved here when we retired in 94

my car was originally malaga...i had it repainted in approx 1987 and this time, felt like more paint on top of the original and a re-paint would be too much, so i stripped it to bare metal, spent 6 months educating myself on the the internet about painting, bought the stuff necessary to do it and did all the work myself it myself

everything that's been done to it, i've done myself...the heavy work, like removing hoods, door, etc, my hubby steve help'd with

i shaved the marker lights and gas filler and did all the detail work, like the interior, console, rear seats, etc myself
