View Full Version : Cheap Leather in 335s?

I just purchased a 335 and am extremely pleased with myself. I found myself gloating when noone was looking.
335 Coupe, Space Gray, Black w/ Aluminum interior, Sports Pckg., Premium Pckg., etc.
With that I do have one complaint with the car: The leather feels very hard and cheap. Am I delusional?
I'm coming from a '03 SAAB Aero (no Saab bashing now) and its leather is far nicer than the 335.
Is there a way to soften the leather?

you have to sit in it. its real leather so it has to be broken in.

Leather conditioner might make it feel a bit softer. Saab leather = poo.

Correct I have Terra leather in my car & I loved it so much I bought it twice.
Meaning: my 06 330i had it to. Which I traded in for my 07 Sedan.

It is definately leather.
I'll try the Zaino. Is this like leather CPR?
I looked online and found Zaino Car polish. Is the name of the Zaino leather care product you use called "Leather in a Bottle"?
Thanks for all of your replies.

much like what every one else is saying.
New leather (get some lexol leather conditioner and cleaner)
You mentioned that you have the sport seats too, which might have something to do with it also.
Congrats on the new car.
Enjoy
The leather in the 3-series is not of the same quality as you'll find in their higher-end models. That's my impression, anway. It's not as smooth or as soft to the touch. I don't think all the leather conditioners in the world will change that.

I think you are delusional.
I have the 335i, sedan, sport, premium, Graphit, black leather and love it. i have had several cars with leather and am very happy with the qualitity in the car.
It might feel a little stiff becuase of the sport seats, but I love the feel personally.
Great choice on the car, have fun.

Nemesis335i (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/member.php?u=98967), I think you're right. If it really mattered I would work a little harder and take it to the upholstery shop.

Agreed.
The leather is so nice in the 3 series. Not sure why someone would feel like that.
I do agree with the sport seat "feel" it's a bit stiff but I love it... The seat hugs you when you drive.. It's like the car loves you back :D
