i've got to get new tires for my 18" wheels on my 95 asap but i cant decide what would be best. what are your thoughts on the toyo proxes T1R?

do you think i would be ok running 245/35/18 all around?

im looking for something that will be decent on the track (namely autox) but still comfortable for street use with a good ride and no tramlining or anything like that. im also not looking to spend an arm and a leg but i understand you've got to pay for good tires...especially when they're 18"

I'm looking for a hot woman (or women) to spend a night with, with no strings attached. She must be rich, hot, skinny but not too skinny, with big "personalities", easy but well educated and smart, but not smarter than me. Must like my jokes and sex like a minx. Oh and own her own BMW.

Seriously...That's what you're looking for. A good tire at the track, but comfortable for street use, doesn't tramline, offers a good ride, and affordable?:rolleyes

Look, pick a couple of things that are vital to you, go with a tire that meets those two criteria, and be done with it.

Do you want:

Performance?
Street comfort?
Affordable?

There are no tires out there that will match your need(s), just like there are no woman (women) out there that matches all my requirements above. Just like women, you can have: Hot and smart, but not rich. Smart and rich, but not hot. Hot and rich, but not smart. If you find one that has all three, she's probably already married and won't be interest in the likes of you and me.

Same goes for tires. You want performance at the track? R-comps. You want performance on the track and street-ability? Advan Neovas, Bridgestone RE-01Rs. But they ain't cheap. You want track performance and cheap? Hankook Ventus Z211. You want street comfort and cheap? ContiTouringContacts. But they suck at the track.

Get my drift (no pun intended. Really)? The Toyo T1-R is a good all around tire, but it's not particularly quiet. As for track performance, it's marginally better than most summer tires but compared to the likes of high end, extreme summer tires like Advan Neova or RE-01Rs it doesn't compare favorably.

ok well just like women you can get a pretty close compromise. im not on some insane budget im just not looking to spend over $200/tire right now. i heard the hankooks got a soft wall and are basically worthless...besides i dont want anything THAT cheap.

im thinking the t1r might be my best bet...if the only real downside is that its loud i dont think that will be a problem because theres no friggin way i'll be able to hear it over my abnoxious ass track pipe.

do you think i'll have any rubbing problems running 245/35/18 up front?

thanks for the info!

I think you'll be happy with the Toyos. I have them on my 318is and my 545i and have been very pleased, excellent ride for the street while providing acceptable performance on the track, all around good compromise for the price.

I'm not familiar with the E36 setup, but even on E46es and Z4s you'd be hard pressed to go wider than 245...I was able to fit 245s on both my 323Ci and my Z4 3.0 without rubbing on stock suspensions, but do a search here and see if anyone has issues with 245s on the E36 chassis.

Here's a wild suggestion.

I'm running Falken Azenis 615 on the street. They are the best tire I have ever had and I had SO3s Mich PS1s and PS2s.

They ride quite well and stick like hell in dry and wet (just not extremely heavy rain and deep water) and the sidewall is stiff so the turn-in is absolutely great.

The best prices for them are at www.edgeracing.com. Don't waste time buying from Discount Tire, they are high^^^high.

Or check out www.FK452.com.
