Windshield Scratches

How do you get rid of scratches in the windshield (short of replacing it)? There's a small patch of scratches on the upper driver's side that looks like it was caused by a bad wiper blade (before I bought the car).

Griots sells glass polish, but it's hard to guess if it would help you much.

If nothing else you could accidentally catch a nasty stone chip and call insurance...:dunno

Griot's Detailer's Handbook says their polish is good for removing water spots, but not scratches. Richard Griot writes that he has yet to find a product that will remove scratches from glass.

If its just a haze you can try glass polish and a machine buffer (rotary), but if you can feel it with your fingernail you should take it to a professional or look into replacement. Also if it is the driver's line of sight, be prepared for some shops turning the work down.
