Our `02 325iT has new Continental ContisportContact 2's in the rear and same brand with 2k miles in the front (225/45/17). However, the rear end feels like it squirming around a bit while at freeway speeds. I have felt this in other cars with lower profile/summer tires when they have been replaced. Is this just the break-in or another reason?

Fairly common with new tires at full tread. Eventually, the rubber with firm up and give you a more crisp feeling. The sensation is exaggerated with all season tires, too. Feels a little like a boat if you wiggle the wheel back and forth.

Sometimes the tires don't work well together if they are different brands. Break them in a little more and up the air pressure a couple lbs.

I had that problem, turns out that the tires were put on the wrong way and spinning backwards. Easy fix once figured out.
