Quick question for the masses... I picked up a nail in my back tire yesterday.(I think). Its in the tread and it seems to be a slow leak. Is there any extra benefit to taking it to a tire place to get fixed, or is the crap you can buy from Autozone etc... the same stuff? I'm talkng about the reamer and tar stuff, not the goo you put in the tire. TIA!

Reamer...hmmm. I guess you mean a tire plug. Should work OK, just check if you have a slow leak afterwards. Or you could have tire patched from inside if leak still persists.

Oh, I didn't know they pulled the tire off and could patch it from the inside.

You should have the tire plugged and patched. This will seal the tire on the inside and in the hole.

Good idea to be safe, and although you have to pay for dismount, re-mount & re-balance, you'll save the tire

Go to a tire shop and have them patch it from the inside. I was charged 26 for a tire that needed two patches.
