For those of you that do rotate your tires, do you always necessarily balance them as well?

Usually.

Wheel balance has nothing to do with rotation.. After all, they balance the tires OFF the car to begin with.. So why on earth would tire rotation effect the balance at all? If your wheels/tires are well balanced, ie, if theyve already been balanced, and they havent thrown a weight, or you havent all of a sudden picked up a shimmy in the steering wheel, then simply rotating them wouldnt be any cause to rebalance.

I don't believe he was equating the two.
Rather just asking if people do a balance (re-balance?) when they rotate.
At least that's how I read it.

Right.. and I was saying that, if there is no wheel shimmy or vibration with the wheels in their current position, then I dont see why one would automatically need to balance them when they are rotated. Id say, if there are no reasons to be suspect of the balance, just rotate, and if a shimmy does develop, have the wheels checked at that time.

Got it. I agree.
