I've seen a lot of 335 threads, but not too many on the 328xi coupe. So here's an interesting perspective. I had the misfortune of being rear ended in my Porsche Carrera 4 so I had a 2003 Boxter (auto) as a loaner. I had about a week to drive it as my wife did and despite the many accolades on its handling it was not that impressive. Certainly the auto and reduced horsepower compared to the Carrera is a big determinant in the driving experience, but the cramped quarters, the annoying blind spots and so-so acceleration reinforced our decision to buy my wife the 328xi Coupe. While we don't have it yet, the 328i Coupe we drove was quite peppy, handled very well, and had the practicality of having a heck of a deceptively big back seat ...and yet the feeling of competent sports coupe. While I was inclined to go for the 335, Toronto winters, and my wife's driving habits pointed me to the 328xi. Seems like a good decision in retrospect.

Peter, it looks as though these cars are about 6 weeks out! My order was placed on Sept 30 and I got a call today saying it should land at the dealer by Nov. 16th. I echo your thoughts concerning the power, handling and a surprisingly comfortable rear cabin.

I drove a Boxter S (02) one time and was nonplussed with the handling after hearing it cited as the best handling car in its class so many times. On a track it may have been a different story, but on the twisters I drove it on it was on par with other cars it the $50K range I've driven. It's funny how acolades like that can work against ones impression. If it wasn't so hyped I probably would have loved it.
