As the new proud owner of a 325i - I was to say the least - majorly disappointed in the stock radio sound .. I used to have a 2001 Nissan Maxima with BOsr Radio
system ..it was eons better... BMW should be ashamed of the radio in this 40k vehicle..Looking for suuestions on newp speakers to replace the stock
junk in this car .. Input most welcome

Our '06 330i had and incredible stereo in it. I'm assuming it's the same as yours?? One thing to consider is that I believe you need to tune the Base/Treble for both FM and then CD. If you tune it for FM and then put in your first CD, they will be set at 0 until you change them. Then they'll stick. (correct me if I'm wrong)

This is the Alpine built radio with Sirius Satellite capability
looks like 2 4 in in front doors / 1 inch or something in windshield posts
and 4 inchers in the rear
I will try the Bass Treble pointers - tho

There was a higher end HK system - but not included in this car

Is this the same as your radio ?

I think it's the same stereo. In fact, it was SOOO much better than my buddies HK system from his '02 that we were both shocked. But if you're not satisfied with it, I think there's more going on. I've owned a lot of cars and this system was one of the best factory stereos I've heard.

As for the stereo in my '07? I think it's going to be the same as the '06 but I don't have the car yet.

Std radio is Alpine while the optional H/K is the Logic 7 which sounds teriffic.

The 13 speaker Logic 7 sounds great.

330's get the HK standard, 325 has to pay for it.......BOSE blows....no highs, no lows MUST BE BOSE! Seriously take out a set of BOSE speakers, they are Fing paper

Didn't mean to start whole discussion on Bose

It just did sound better than the stock 325 I system

What I'm trying to do
is painlessly improve this present system
new speakers in the front doors / rear deck
just looking for what fits-drops in - and works !

Anyone experiment yet ? Any good results or suggestions ?

MB Quart is a German company that makes very nice speakers that are BMW friendly....the biggest part of the HK stereo is an additional amp to power the other speakers..

should've gotten the logic 7 option.

anyway, i think the stock stereo is pretty decent. if you think this system is crummy, you probably haven't heard any of bmw's past stock offerings.

While I agree that most BOSE systems in cars are average at best, to say they suck because they are paper speakers is not the issue. Paper speakers actually give you the best bass response, it's just that all aftermarket and high powered system use synthetics for durability and wear.

Bose speakers really are the standard to which all other factory installed systems must compare. My previous car, a Porsche, had a great system which you really have to work at to beat, usually by sheer power alone. The same can be said about Bose Aviation headsets, which are also "top drawer". They just do it right!

If you asked Corvette owners about their Bose speakers, their answer would be "its pure junk".

ELTO: You are lucky! Your 325i must have the "HI FI" system that is standard in the US. You have 8" subwoofers.

In Europe the standard audio is still WORST!!! with 6,5" subwoofers.

It is a shame that a luxury car comes with such a bad sound system.

As a multiple corvette owner I would say the bose sounds a lot better then the Logic7 in my 328i. I do have more tuning of freqs with the L7 but the sound is no where near as good. I also spent 5 years in car audio competion durning the mid 90s so I know what a real high quality system sounds like when it is designed correctly.

I have been through a lot of audio systems over the years (including a Bose on my C5), but I really like the Logic 7 system in the 335i. Once you have your settings done to your taste for each input, you are golden. The input source makes a big difference as even different channels on Sirius respond differently.

Very disappointed in the stock stero system put into the 2007 328i. I didn't do the upgrade because I "assumed" that a $40K car would have a great stereo system without the upgrade. My 2000 Toyota Solara had a MUCH better factory installed, standard stereo, and that car only cost $28K!

Never "assume" anything!!!! Its certainly easy enough to listen to a similar radio in a similar car before you make your choice.

Its hard to believe that any stock Corvette radio and speakers(all junk) could sound better than the Logic 7 in the BMW. Im on my eleventh Corvette and Ive already ripped out the speakers on an 07 with 300 miles. The head unit will go in the spring!

My 200 maxima Bose sounds fine. Plays lows just fine. Not as well as my 2k watt audio system that I had when I was a kid in my Civic. Yes, I was one of those rice kids but I grew up. :)
With the option packages I'm thowing in, I would assume its as good as the Bose in my Maxima. I still hadn't had time to goto the dealer to look, but I'm getting mighty pissed at BMW hawaii for not answering any emails.
