High idle

I am still new to the BMW thing so this could be normal, but here goes. It is just starting to get cold here in Cincy and for the last two days my car has idled high (2k) when I started it up. If I press the gas for a second it will come back down right afterward. Any thoughts?

i hate to say this... but do a search, this topic comes up quite often, and there are a few simple things to check.

I would do the following: clean your HFM, clean your ICV, test your throttle position sensor... etc.

my car is doing the same thing, as its gettin cold in the philly burbs. Any car ive ever drivin idles high for a bit when its very cold to help it warm up. My BBC pickup in high school to my 5th prelude all did the same thing. Check you car out and make sure nothing is wrong, but to me its normal when its cold.
