check engine at 4K RPM

Anyone else have their check engine light come on when under load at 4K and then go off when throttle is released? I need to find out how to check codes w/o taking it to the mechanic, I'll check the boards. Thanks

99.9% POSITIVE its knock sensor code.

do a search for the "pedal stomp" method of viewing codes. You have a '95 so it works.

depends on why the light is on. First step is to figure that out then work from there.



temp sensor huh?? wow, I was 99.9% sure it would be knock sensors. What code was the temp sensor tripping and did you replace it?

Do the five step shuffle gas peddle test, should work for an E34, I've used it in the past on one. I ended up having to replace ALL coil packs before my problem went away.

mine flashes once or twice (at 3k rpms) every morning for the past couple of weeks.
i cleaned the filter and hfm, disconnected the batter for a while and it's still happening. funny thing it only does it once or twice (at 3k rpms) in the same time frame of when I left my house.

Knock sensor is almost exclusively 3,000rpm. IAT sensor is commonly 4,000rpm when it goes (rare though).

but it only happens once, maybe twice in the mornings. i'll check the codes.

did the gass shuffel and didnt work but ill jsut take it in and have them look at it

try the gas shuffel again, sometimes it takes a few times to trigger it. Your looking to get raped if you just take it in!
