Console locking on '96 M3?

I have a '96 M3 with the lux package. However, the interior is fitted with the normal black panels rather than the crap wood. I'm wondering if I really have the central locking button but the console is an older one that doesn't have a place for the button. Any help?

As far as I know the 96 and up are supposed to have the central locking button. Maybe you have an early build 96 that missed having the button or maybe the previous owner ditched the wood trim and didn't care about getting a black console without the central lock button?

I think it's an 05/96 build date so I have to agree with your second guess. Thanks!
