damn it i dont think i caused this because i havent driven but maybe 100 or so miles ( its been pouring rain) since i picked it up on friday, but there's a small paint chip on the passenger side wheel well. Will the dealer fix this or will they say tough cookie? Im being anal yes and i know this, but damn it i paid alot of money for this car and it makes me mad i might have missed this in my euphoria of picking up on the car friday afternoon

When you approach the dealer, dont point the finger at them. This could easily be from driving ANY amount of miles. Ask them if there is anything that they can do. Hell, I picked up a new black Corvette three weeks ago and I was barely out of the dealership when a truck in front of me spun a stone onto the hood. It chipped and the dealer fixed it. No charge.

good advice. so just approach them nicely and say " hey i noticed this when i was trying to see what was wrong with the wipers and i was wondering if there is anything you guys can do to help?"

maybe i should slide the manager a 20 or something? hehe

Well, is the chip bigger than a half a dime and is it down to the metal or just the primer. If the answer is no, with some good touch-up work you can fix it. It certainly won't be the first one. The dealer could probably do a good job if he's got someone who's careful.

its about 1/4th the size of a dime and looks like a little ripple. like the paint sorta got pushed and it has little black lines running through it ( i presume that's the primer).

Its fixable. Whatever you do, don't paid the fender or anything. Touch it up, wet sand it, touch it up again, polish it and that should do it. Someone experienced at it can do it.

yeah the dealer was totally cool about this. when i go to pick up my plates they will contact their paint guru and he'll fix it for me free of charge.

thus far moritz in arlington texas has exceeded my expectations as a bmw dealership. they are really on the ball

they replaced both wipers free of charge. i tried them out and they didnt stutter. now i gotta wait for the next texas rainstorm to make sure they last

i have a feeling the wax on the windshield or something to that nature gunked them up

Definately try the dealer before you try to touch it up yourself. I noticed a ding in the door by the driver's side rear view mirror 3 days after I picked up my car. I called the dealer a week later and they gladly agreed to fix it. They did so soon after that and it came out really nice.

Paint chip is annoying, but I have to share my experience just to give you a little perspective....

Picked up our 335i on Saturday night (Sapphire Black Metallic w/Saddle Brown interior). Sunday I drove it around, wasn't in a construction zone, wasn't too close to the car in front of me, when all of a sudden, the windshield cracked! Horrible splinter on the passenger's side that would eventually make its way across. I hadn't even owned the car for 24 hours! I called the dealer right away when it happened, and my salesman told me to just come in to see what they could do. Fortunately, the general manager was very cool, and they agreed to fix it at no cost to me. I have an appointment tomorrow morning to bring it in (they had to order the windshield), and they'll give me a loaner car to use while the repair is done, which should only take a few hours.

I just dropped the car off this morning for the windshield repair, so hopefully by this afternoon I'll have it back. They gave me a barebones 325 as a loaner car, which was really sad. It kind of looks like a 335 inside, but its not.....No seatbelt claw, no paddle shifters, didn't have leather seats (let alone heated seats!). Agh, already spoiled!

Nice thing about it was that I actually discovered I like the Active Steering option! (in the 335, the 325 didn't have it).
