Just bought a 97 328i! I have a serious front end vibration at certain speeds ie, in turns or even hitting a small bump at slower speeds! Could this possibly be a tie rod or strut problem> Help from any of you guys out there would be great!
Thanks,Will38

I am having a similar problem, with a VERY bad shake when entering into turns, and it pops up now and then when braking and just barely turning my wheel. My problem is only noticable when turning to the left as well.

I believe I have narrowed it down to the lower control arm bushing. Mine looks split and there is play in it when I try to wiggle the control arm around.

I'm currently debating the easiest, most straight forward way of addressing this. (I'm all about ease). I've noticed that I can buy the bushings already pressed into new brackets so I don't have to screw with that myself, I'm probably going to get those. I'm also considering replacing the control arms while I'm at it.

um pressing the bushings in is not that easy without proper tools. we bolted the arms to the side of the house(or something else wood and very strong if you prefer) and used a floorjack to 'press' them. i'm sure theres an easier way.

also your wheel bearings might be bad-constant grinding, goes away when you turn and stress is transfered away from one side.

good luck

The hard part of replacing the bushings is to remove and replace the bracket from the control arm when the control arm has not been removed from the car. The easy part is to take the bracket and new bushing to a Midas Muffler place or something similar and get them to press in the new bushing.

There are DIY writeups on doing this and also on replacing the control arms while you are at it.
