Ok, Im selling my TI, this time its once and for all. Im not sure whats quite wrong with it, but its missing, and the estimates are high to have it replaced. It just seems like its not worth the hassle to me anymore. I just had to have a valve job and head gasket replacement last summer, and frankly Im tired of it. Soon I will be getting a newer bmw. This car is great for a motor swap, if thats what youre looking to do.
Im asking $3000 for the car, and the title will have the stipulation that you will be responsible for the car passing emissions. Heres a link to my original post, with some more details. Obviously the price is dramatically decreased.
If there arent any bites, I may fix the TI, and then sell it. Or if theres good demand, I may just part it out.

Im not quite sure... I drove it from between Morro Bay and SLO, and made it to SLO with no problems, besides the fact that I drove it about 25 to make sure I didnt kill it. I wouldnt recommend driving it to LA.
No brakes, If you want, if you know where the Napa is in Marsh St, the car is across the street. Its at certified auto repair. Im not letting them touch it, I just know them, and that was the safest spot to take it. I work at the Napa across the street. Im there any day besides friday and sunday, 10-6:30

A miss? That is more than likely something very simple as it could need new spark plugs/wires, vacuum hoses or intake boots. Mine has a bit of a miss and I know it's because of the cracked intake boots...$55 for both of them which I will get to soon. That is a pretty damn good deal for $3k if so.

Im over fixing the car, I wanted a new one for a few months anyways, so I feel this is my best chance right now. If its just something small, you have a real good deal for $3k. If its something larger, you still have a solid deal, assuming it even takes you $2k to fix. Im not saying it will, because I honestly do not know. Nothing on that car can take $2k to fix I dont think, so youd have a nice car for under $5k regardless. I just really dont want to hassle with getting it fixed.
If this doesnt move quickly, I may just buy a new car, fix the TI up a little, spend the $400 and put the DSIIs on it, and either use it as a beater, so I dont have to drive the 330, or sell it for $5500.

$3k. It sounds like something electrical, maybe. We fiddled with it a little, and replaced a fuse, which made it actually start up. Initially it wouldnt. But keep in mind I really dont know about the mechanics of cars, I just know bmw talk.
Either way, its less than $1000 to fix, so youd get the car for under $4k, which I think is really cheap.... We can even negotiate what goes on the pink slip, for sale price ;)

Im asking $3000 for the car, and the title will have the stipulation that you will be responsible for the car passing emissions.
I would right now go and buy your car however I cant legal buy your car because CA law says seller must have it smoged and passed.
I've gone through this 3 times.
just trust me as the seller you have to get it smoged before you change tittle unless you "gift" it.
jflip2002

When I bought the car, the owner didnt smog it. It was a spur of the moment deal, and it was ok. I just had to fork over the $40, and smog it myself, which was no problem.
I can "gift" it, that'll save the buyer from having to pay the taxes anyhow. I will type up a contract, stating that the car is to be smogged by the nw ownder, as the car is sold "as is", not in running condition. Even though it will start, and run, its only running on 3 cylinders, so it will be a non operable vehicle. With the contract signed, if the buyer wants to come back and complain, I can go to that contract.
erik, we can spend the extra $25 or so, and when we switch the names over, we can flag it as a "non op" car. Then once you fix it, re-register it as a normal title.

dont type it up go to the DMV and pick up a 'statment of facts'
however
When a car is sold, who is responsible for the inspection?
The seller is required to provide the buyer with a valid smog inspection certification at the time of the sale or transfer. Smog certifications are good for 90 days from the date of issuance.
The inspection is not required on a transfer if a biennial smog certification was submitted to DMV within 90 days prior to the vehicle transfer date (a vehicle inspection report may be required for proof of certification).
http://www.dmv.ca.gov/vr/smogfaq.htm#BM2537
Also, register it as a planed non operatinal vehical. something along the lines of "engine died, cant get it to smog because it wont turn over" *shrugs*
jflip2002
10-12-2006, 11:25 PM
Yeah, thats where my "non op" strategy comes in. It'll waste $20, but oh well, better to protect me that way.

ever get it smogged? or is it non-op right now?
jflip2002

A cylinder isnt firing lol. If I could smog it, I wouldnt let it go for less than $4500. So thats $1500 off to get it running. You can get a rebuilt M44 for less than $1500, and drop it in yourself lol.

lmao at jflip. g/l with your sale man. you have some of the worst luck with selling your car. having one of the cylinders not fire could most likely be a big problem. possible that its small but inlikely. hope this time it sells. are u going with no reserve? hmm haha g/l

jflip2002
10-24-2006, 09:52 PM
No reserve this time. Im imagining its a head gasket... So I advise bidders to bid $1k less than theyd pay for a running TI. And the overall condition of this TI, if you win it for $3k, you'll get a nice running TI for $4k. And I think thats a very good deal. If worst comes to worst. If no one pays for it this time, Im going to have it fixed, and do something with it, rather it be sell or drive.
