Hey gang,
I need alittle help here.My 88 325is runs great untill the outside
temp. hits around 80 to 84. Then it starts missing like someone just pulled two or three plug wires off complete loss of power. So
after pulling off to the side of the road for ten to twenty min,s cool down time it starts right up and runs great untill it heats back
up again.Like I said, in the fall winter or spring the car runs great.
I have already replaced spark plugs, plug and coil wires, distributor
cap,and rotor, still no help. I think that the ignition is cutting out
when it restarts I smell the unburnt fuel coming out of the exhaust. My next move would be to replace the coil I guess?Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Again

Rando

I think the E30 325i used motronic 1.1 and 1.3, if you've got motronic 1.3 before you go spending more money on parts it might be worth getting the fault codes out of the ECU as it will tell you what it thinks the problems are.

And see if that gives you any clues.

If that doesn;t turn up anything I think you should take a look at the fuel pressure regulator as this is associated with warm-start problems. Also I wonder if it is something to do with the cold-start system as if the sensor is faulty it might be triggering the cold-start system when the engine is warm. Also might be worth looking at the auxilary air valve.
