I enjoy the uniqueness of it, however there are better cars to spend 30k on that can only seat 2

There are people asking 45K on Ebay for the 06 JCW GP.... :confused I am going to buy a 2005 MCS and then put the DDRWorks M62 kit in it and have a lot less than the 30K in the car and have a little monster and it will have a back seat for the dogs....

Sounds good to me, I think AC and some other top notch tuners have some intence kits out there, and when the next gen comes out with a turbocharger instead of the super, I'm sure we'll see some 300whp beasts for a lot less than 45k!

I was lookin at the turbo kit from webb. they say you can get uo to 350ho and 272hp to the wheels.
On a side note....
I was talkin to some of the factory reps, i was told that the new 2007 MCS block will be able to handle 300 hp. And the JCW kit should be pushin about 240ish....

That JCW GP on eBay did not sell at that price. The GP is a very unique car, and not for everyone. Certainly, one can do a turbo on an early, or later car, and make major Bhp. The GP is a real factory package and a truely fantastic car - the CSL of the MINI world.
Mine should be in by end of October.

Congrats on your purchase. I bet that thing is going to be a blast to drive. With only 415 of them making it to the US, you are going to have a rarity at that. I love the fact that you get this kind of performance from this car and all is still covered under warranty. BMW/MINI have really went above the bar this time.

Weaksauce. There are current model MINI's pushing a whole lot more than 300. It had better be able to handle a lot more than 300hp.
M62 FTW.

I should have said that it should be able to easily handle 300 hp. :) Can't wait to see what turbo upgrades they will come up with after the JCW kit.

Heck yea. I can't wait to see what the big tuners do with the new powerplant. Dinan should come out with a nice rounded package. Hopefully JCW doesn't overstate their gains, again.

So...will you be saying goodbye to the "Trailer Queen" or just adding this to your stable?

Na, I think the Healey (George) will always be with us.
Same for the M Coupe.
The GP is a replacement for my 02 MINI Cooper S.

Very nice, Peter!
It seems that brush-work has become a "lost art" recently, though I did see some incredible work in Reno, NV a couple of years ago at a hot rod show. The guy that did most of the work was there. I couldn't help noticing that he was my age (>50) and talked a lot about "the day". :D
Enjoy your GP!

Thanks, Theo! I am! Here's a bit of artistry on the hood scoop area :
The guy who painted mine is famous locally with the hot rod, and racing groups and has done some really wild stuff in his hey-day. Now, he does superb carved wooden signs and only paints stripes on cars by special request, if he likes you! I am very happy with his work - it really individualizes my car!
