What have you folks done to replace your brakes? Stock pads? More aggressive pads? a MINI Big Brake Kit (that sounds funny... kinda like Jumbo Shrimp)?

Kev,

My car is still stock, but I have seen the Brembo kits for sale and they make me drool.

BMP has a bunch of options for beefing up the brakes. They've got a Tar-ox kit that has either a 305 mm front rotor with a 6 piston caliper, or a 318 mm front rotor with 6 or 10 piston calipers... and they make me want to mess my pants.

They've also got a kit for the rear that allows you to toss some 323mm rotors yet still use the stock calipers. They've also got SS lines, drilled rotors etc. My setup is still stock but sometime in the spring I'll be looking to throw a set of better pads and possibly SS lines on there

Here's another pretty cute BBK for the MINI made by Stop Tech

The caliper is only 4 piston, but it has floating rotors and they're 328 mm instead of the max 318 from Tar-Ox

I put the RE drilled rotors and stainless brake lines on my Cooper S, and it was an awesome setup.

For which ones?

You can check out the Tar-ox kit at www.bmpd.com and the Stop Tech kit is sold on www.turnerminisport.com I believe...

You can check out the RE stuff at www.rogueengineering.com

IMHO I would go for the Tar`ox 10-piston kit if you can afford it, and wanted to go overkill. In one of last year's BMWCar there is a short piece on it in the 'News' section.
