Thank you :) i cant drive the car for about 2 weeks and stumbled upon this car while looking for an E36 for a friend, i test drove it and had to use the crazy ass padles behind the wheel, but the drive was fantastic the feel the touch. the doctor said i am ok to drive automatics and this sorta is in a way. so i am gonna have to leave using the manual for a while.
i`ll post more pictures up when i can get outside again :D

So I don't know if it even matters anymore, but there were two different cameras used for the above pictures, two different resolutions and two different jpeg compression rates.
Why aren't they the same? Oh, that's right. You lie.

Thats the thing too though, when you take pictures off your camera they are already named so the last picture shouldn't be named "Untitled". But when you drag your pictures off your digital camera, they are already named like "it's" first picture, which i think we can all agree that it was taken by "it", it should be named something like "PICT0002.JPG (http://forums.***************************************?att achmentid=166217&d=1159636081)". Why then are the other's not labeled like that? And if "it" did label the other pictures for some reason why would she label one "Untitled"? I know when you right click and click "save as" on a picture off a website and you click "save" it automatically saves as "Untitled". Way to many mistakes.

The thing that really caught my eye at first was the jpg artifacting and how it was not consistant. I was hoping for a little more in the EXIF information on the pictures, but only the key had any EXIF data in it at all.

So:
Now you've posted that 330ci. In what appears to be estoril. So now you need to find an Estoril E46 Ci and a pic of you next to it.
That's gonna be tough, huh? It wouldn't be if it was in your driveway.
And if it is, then we'll need pics of the E60 M5 next to it.
THAT'S IT! All you need to do is walk into the garage and get a pic! Takes 2 minutes. I'll be waiting.

EXIF information for the key picture dates it June 05 2003.
Encoder is Coachware 1.0. Coachware is used in digital camcorders, not webcams.
bmw2.jpg and untitled.jpg were saved int he same program, by examining their header abnormalities, but PICT0002 was saved by a different program, yet is not in a standardized webcam resolution.

Webcams are not rare. A few use coachware, but that is a more expensive method than offloading the JPEG compression to the computer, so they are rare. You might have one, but I am simply providing information about these images that cannot be gleaned from them readily.

Not sure exactly how things work in Europe, but the key posted is DEFINITELY a match to my E39 key. The E46 key has a solid block construction with CNC'd grooves, not a typical tumbler-push key construction (like what's in the photo).

having owned enough e46's (probably more than any other member here)... i can consider myself well versed in them.
1) that is not a facelifted coupe. coupes were facelifted for m.y. 2004; meaning this is in no-way a 2005.
2) that key is not long enough in the shaft to be an e46 key. the faub is the right style for post 2000 m.y. e46's; but the shaft is too short.
3) i had more, but i totally forgot where i was going with this argument.

When you mentioned that I thought to myself "O'damn, that's right."
The corner of the light is uplifted like a grin along with the rest of the fascade.

Then with the points made by LCB with the exception of 3 was very good.

Gotta tell ya. If you really wanna clear ya'self, ya gotta get a pic of yourself next to the car.
I was rooting for you to be real as a person can be and was actually kinda pissed that the forums got a woman member that was enthused enough to post and be active with the bimmer community at large, but was getting ragged on so regularly after being in an "accident."

If you were a good liar, you would have gone to the dealer, gotten a real e46 key, taken a picture with it like you did with that key, and told us all the pics you posted of it were from the previous owner and were just to show us what it looked like. You also shouldn't have used an estoril(looks like it to me anyway) e46 since that's not too common and is going to be hard as shit to fake more pics of. You also shouldn't have said you've got a digital camera at all since at least then you could back yourself up a little. Your best bet at this point would be to pretent to total this one too and start again. If you're gonna try to pull this, at least do it right, you n00b.
