feel free to check out mine (click on the link in my sig). although it's not 540i6. it needs nothing (NOTHING!) but the new owner. 157k miles but with the maintenance done on it, it will take another 150k :D

It's funny that you that. I have had more compliments on this color than all my previous cars, combined! I had a Spinnaker Blue '89 Cherokee(the light metallic), Lachs Silver E30, Alpine III 95 540i 6, and a Topaz 328ci( I didn't like the Topaz).
Canyon and Chiartto were the best E39 Burgundy's. Canyon has a drop of purple which looks great from dusk into night. It really pops off this time of year here in the colorful rolling hills of North Carolina.
If I were to keep the car I would get 2000 M5 headlights and the Orange Celis LED taillights then connect those pieces with a custom, thick Orange pinstripe(sort of like a McLaren orange).
Black is the best interior for this color, or at least a black base. Full Tan is ok too, I see more of these though. I think it is because just about every Domestic or Japanese automaker uses tan with Burgundy's. Grey doesn't flatter the color at all.
Oh, another big plus to this color, it doesn't at all look like those PMS Burgundy's on E420's, Hondas, Fords, etc. Ok I said way too much about this color. I love cars!

i honestly love your car. problem is $12k is too much for me, even though the miles are great and the blue book is probably much higher. are you negotiable?
if we get serious, i have an aunt and uncle in NC that could buy it for me, and probably tow it to IL for me.

Where are you located? Is your 535 a 5spd?
