View Full Version : Another commercial attacking BMW

There's a KIA (umm, yeah) commercial for their new SUV. They are talking about comparing it to the other units on the market, and they start saying how the "competition" in the SUV market doesn't go where the KIA goes because they're afraid of getting dirty. At that moment, the KIA comes racing by and splashes mud all over the front of the BMW X5. I'm talking about a BATH, not just a splatter. Why this attack on the BMWs? Just a bunch of jealous haters.

Hey...BMW GAVE them permission to use the BMW X5, the bimmer in that Dodge commercial, etc.

Besides, those commercials can backfire....it's free publicity for bimmer anyway you look at it...

there was also a mercedes M class next to the X5 if I remember correctly; but in reality it is true, I mean, I can't imagine going off road in our X5...

They attacked a bunch of SUVs, not just the X5; but it remains in the end, it's still a kia; no way around that stigma.

anyone who's driven a bmw, especially the M, knows that there is no comparison to the feeling behind the wheel.

how many people actually go off roading with these suvs anyway? the whole suv idea is so dumb and too much oil is being used on these vehicles with no purpose... even that porsche suv! what a waste.

get urself a country squire with wood panelling or a econline van if u need room for groceries and 5 kids.

If I had an X5 I wouldn't hesitate to take it off road a little, but nothing stupid. But, I was annoyed by that commercial too. Oh, see you in Jacksonville bmw325iman. :D

I thought it was pretty funny. Besides, do you really think someone in the market for a X5 would buy a Kia instead just because of that commercial?

FiveEight, you driving down for the game? It wont be bad for me, Jax is only a 2 - 2 1/2 hour drive for me from Orlando. Just depends on traffic. I'll be there for sure, wearing my Irish green! LOL Good luck on rooting for NC State! Its a long drive back to NC when you lose! LOL! j/k If I didn't have 3 other friends going along with me, I'd say we'd try to meet up and the winner buys the other a beer after the game.

Hehe, I haven't finalized any plans yet, I just know I'm going, and I've got my ticket. I don't think the drive is too bad, and I won't mind making the trip in my car...:D

When you are on top everyone want to get a shot at you. It's just how things works. Just take it as a compliment.

Have you taken an X-5 offroad? We have and found that they are pretty much a joke. Just a way to get into the market, just like the kias and crvs and whatever else it out there with no such thing as "ground clearance". Funfunfun.

I've taken my 4WD Rodeo seriously off-roading a bunch of times. It is sooo cool to be able to go down rough dirt trails and across streams and stuff instead of having to park way out on some road and hike miles and miles just to get to the general vicinity of where you want to be.

Some people will just never get this however, which is fine with me.

from what I understand though, only Jeep warranties any damage that may occur from off-roading (not from slammin' into things); but, if something breaks, etc..etc...

Heh, with a Porsche SUV, you'll never be late for school or soccer practice again! And you'll be the most popular kid in the car-pool, too! :D

the only way the Kia beat the X5 in their commercials was on price, they knocked out out other SUVs with crappy offroading skills, some were too big, and the X5 was the only one that couldn't be nocked out by ability, only on price.

I haven't seen the commercial, so I can't really comment.

Was it a commercial for the Sportage or the Sorento? If it was the Sorento, those trucks are actually very capable off-road. They are pretty popular in Germany (there's a German Sorento forum). The car overall, is better than most American SUVs, but then of course... I hate anti_BMW commercials. I need to see the commercial...

Lexus seems to be the worst. Anyone see the one with a 540i crashing off a cliff while a GS430 stopped in time? Or the IS300 taking a turn in a rally with the spectators cheering... but while a 330i was turning, the spectators starting running away in fear because of Lexus's self-proclaimed handling advantage. Now every idiot would think a BMW is dangerous. Or what about the one with with the IS and sliding TT?

I've never seen any of those but they are all BS!! and I would be pissed if I did see one.

come on guys..if u had listened u woulda heard the guy at the end of the KIA commercial imply it was all BS and then he said 'it is our commercial after all' ..it was all in good fun and i took it as such....funny thing...i was driving my truck to work and thre was about 2" of water in one of the side lanes and a X5 STOPPED and waited for the car in the center lane to go and then got over so as not to get water on it...i sped right through it and didnt even feel it so it was not a safety issue.....i have seen this type of behavior multiple times and all the X5 owners i know say they would never take it off road, they dont want mud on it...cant say i blame them either.....but the mud splashing and comments in the ad i think are right on for most X5 owners.....and the ad about the 540i going over the cliff...well...they were trying to say that the gs430 stops quicker than the 540...and it does, so....really the only ones that are not that funny are the 330 and IS one and the pizza one....
just my opinion..

You guys can't leave out the recent Honda Accord commercial with the "Learn German" CD? You know, where its starts talking back about "How did they learn" or some bullshit. . .
To be honest, car commercials suck in general with the exception of VW - which always seem funny to me.

If I had a 60K vehicle, the last thing I would want is MUD on it.

GEEZ.
