New BMW owner

Hi...I just purchased a used BMW from a friend of mine. It's a 1997 318i with 72,000 miles, 1.9 liter, 5 speed. It has a few quirks that I need to work out. One is with the heating/ A/C controls and the other is a sound system I need to install so please be patient as I may ask some really dumb questions. I am a good mechanic but have never worked on a BMW before.
