HELP - Sterring wheel locked

I got in my car this morning and put the key in and started the car, but the sterring wheel remained locked. I played with it for almost an hour. Is there a way to get the steering wheel unlocked so I can drive it to the shop?

turn the wheel to the left/right(depends on which way its oriented) as you turn the ignition to the on position... is this what your talking about?

If you can turn the key, start it, and the steering wheel is still locked, that's a lock issue. You may be able to remove the airbag and steering wheel at home, but if the lock is broken, it will require some shop time to replace.

Yes, I am able to start the car, but the wheel lock is still engaged. I got it towed to the shop. We'll see what happens.
