I did my RSM's the other day and since then I've had troubles.

I was on my way to school and got stuck waiting for a freight train, I turned the car off and when the train passed and the light turned green, I tried to start the car, but there was nothing, no dash lights, radio, hazards ect... I pushed the car to the side of the road and opened the trunk. Both terminals were connected, but the positive was pretty loose and I pulled it off and reconnected it. The same problem happened later that day and I took out the bmw supplied 13mm wrench and tightened it down. It was fine until today.

I got off of work today and I got into my car and the window did the roll down thing and when i closed the door, it rolled back up. I go to start it and everything dies. Radio, Dash Lights, Ect.... So I'm thinking that it was the damn terminals again and open the door and the hazard lights that I put on, turn on. I close the door and try to start the car and everything dies.... I open the door again, and slam it, and everything comes back on.. dash lights, hazards, radio ect... I start the car.. it was not as quick as normal, but it still turned over fine.

I have NO IDEA what the problem is and especially how slamming my door could possibly affect it.

I need to figure out what is wrong with it, I guess it is just one more to add on to the list of things to do in my restoration project.

Thanks for any help

-Paul

EDIT::

After some searching, I read that it could be my alternator? And or corroded terminal connections. Can anyone confirm?

definetly sounds like a loose/ corroded connection somewhere.... but tracking that down could be very tedious.

Maybe you need a new battery. Possibly the shock of the door created a connection on the battery.

The battery is new-ish. Less than a year... probably close to 6 months. I'm going to take some steel wool to the terminals/connectors tomorrow morning. I really hope it is as simple as that, but I'll try to post a follow up.

Since your checking things, check the voltage regulator.

I have an 80A alternator for sale if you need one, check link in sig.
