I was in AutoZone today looking around and noticed about 20 different brands of fuel system cleaners. Are these worth a purchase every 1000 miles or so? Do they actually do anything, or are they a come-on?

I use the Techron stuff every now and then. For $6 every couple of months, it couldn't hurt. I think a search on this board for Techron/Chevron will give lots more info ...

I've used on on my cars every 6 months or so just to keep everything running clean. Worked pretty good when I used it.

I used seafoam in my gas and it made my idle better, but I used it in the oil and in the vaccum line as well all around the same time so I'm not sure which one worked best.

You might look at a product called " Berrymans B-12". I have been using this stuff sence.... say the 70's with great results. It has a high concentation of Toluene. One of the main ingredents in Chevrons treatment also. I put one 16 oz in about every 3 months or so. I have seen injectors from a car I have that has 130K miles and the tech said they looked brand new. Nice stuff and it costs less then $3.00 a can. Most auto parts stores carry the stuff. And one last note.... Don't use cheap gas... Good way to ruin everything inside.

as an autozoner the best fuel additives are the "seaform", "berrymans b-12", and the lucas fuel additive...I switch off between seaform and lucas..if its been awhile since the last can i go with the seaform, if i just feel like adding some I go with the lucas where it is a smaller bottle 8oz as opposed to the seaforms 14oz or 16oz and its bout 2 bucks cheaper...but those are the 3 best and our top sellers....gumout,stp. chevron are ok, but seaform is the best
