i have a 2002 5251 and i just bought some 20 in wheels for it , but here is my problem the center hub on my rotor sticks out 1/2 in and the inner bore in my wheel 1/4 in. so there for the wheels does not sit right on the rotor. so to fix the problem i used a 1/4 in spacer and it fit right, but now when i go over 40mph i get a shimmy in the front end,
i was wondering if any one else has had a problem like this and maybe what they did to fix it.
thanks again for the help. George

Were the spacers hubcentric? If not, then you have not solved the problem of the wheel not sitting correctly on the hub

What car were the wheels off of?

no they were not hubcentric, they were just generic ones

i bought the wheels brand new but the place will not exchange them because i drove on them.

i think im just going to get the center bore on the wheel machined to fit the hub, what do you guys think.

Then not exchange them or make you whole? I guess it's partly your fault for not doing your homework. A rim is not a rim for a E39, most shops should know this by now, and even if the wheel wasn't made for your car, the shop should have advised you on what you need to do to make them fit properly without issues.

I would never recommend to shave material off the wheels to make them fit. You would be lowering the load capacity of the wheels.
