Hello everyone,

I currently have a 95 E38, im going to be updating it...getting rid of the chrome and making the car black, except for the front kidneys.

Anyways I bought a 2001 fenders and lights/skirts, as well as the 2001 tails. I've had the car for a few years and im ready to make her really stand out. (These are not installed yet)

Anyways Im looking for some rims...17's - 20's ...I'm looking for a sporty yet aggressive look...or aggressive than anything.

If anyone has any suggestions over these horribly ugly baskets ...please send links and suggestions!

Thanks alot,

Pugsly

I've found that the 18" staggered M-Pars look good in the car.
Mine are 275 in the rear and 245 in the front.

Closing the wheel gaps can be done with a set of springs.
Also, de-chroming makes a huge visual difference. I replaced all the chrome trim from around the windows and bumpers with the parts from the "Sport" version.

Good luck!

You will get some responses here plus spend some time on Car Domain...Oh, and Style 95s from the E65 (19s) look pretty good, IMHO.

What do you think of the cars over all looks being completely blackedout?...except for the grills?... I think it looks more professional....how about you?

IMO, there is such a thing as too much. I wouldn't go for the black grills or blacked out corners. All other chrome is fine, again, IMHO.

Go for it! IMHO thats one of the best mods you can do for cheap.
As for the rims go for the Forgeline VR3P
19X8 245/45-19 19X9.5 275/40-19

Wow, i really like those, are those 20's?...how much any ideas?

Does anyone know how much it costs to black out the chrome?...can a shop just paint it?

I'm also noticing that the door strips appear to be painted as well...is this just an optical thing?..or is it really painted?

Thanks guys for the help!

MUCH BETTER THAN THE M-PARS! Everybody seems to want M-Pars on their e32 or e38. THere are so many other styles and choices:
Avus AF-M02
BBS RX-II
HRE 542
Modulare M2

That is one HOT 7. Love the rims. Just brought M-Pars and I like them but not in love with them. Had 16s on her first so the M-Pars gave her a different look. I now want a look unlike anyone in my area. I want her to be unique. I will do in my image. As I see her. R2dMax, you r my inspiration.

Well, my 750 is stock, except for 2001 tails and corners, plus cross-drilled Brembo rotors in the front (and a K40 :buttrock). It is (so far as I know) entirely unique in my little corner of Vermont.

I have never understood the desire to black out all the chrome trim on the e38 or, for that matter, put so heavy a tint on the windows that you look like a Columbian druglord with a bad sense of traveling incognito. Then again, my car is not black.

I'm partial to staggered 18" M-Pars, but I have to admit those Forgelines look pretty d*mn sharp. Not the pimpy crap you often see in 20" wheels.

I think that those wheels in a 20 would approach $1K each - anyone? Oh and then you would still need tires. Great wheel, though.

You are right. They are just under 1K each. Forged and very well manufactured.

I work with Diablo wheels and they have a couple of very nice black
wheels...I recommend the LIONHART or the DELTAFORCE...they look good
without being too....what is the word?

They also have a Java Applet on their site that allows you to "see" the wheels on your car...

DELTAFORCE

LIONHART

For that matter, you can really take any wheel you like and just have it powdercoated black.

I did a FULL facelift on my 96 750iL-money well spent.

20" Alpinas were my choice.

Someone I know has black kidneys on thier 740i Sport-car is cosmos black-it actually looks pretty mean,I was surprised how good they look!

More professional? In the words of Ferris Bueller, "a professional What?"

There is the druglord look (not a far cry from the Goth look) but who says that druglords don't have class? I personally very much like the blackout look and am working on my '90 535i to eventually get it *all* blacked out - headlights, taillights, turn signals, no chrome, black wheels, limo tint, maybe debadged, maybe the grill, and I've replaced some of the interior grey cloth with black pleather (just the headliner left for me to get around to).

If a lot of cars looked like that, I could see how it'd quickly get cliché, but there's definitely something to a car that's a sleek black apparition on the road, a specter compared to all the bland beige and bright colors and chrome and whatnot.

My $.02

Glad 2 hear it. I just like a cleanly modded fitting look for the car. M-Pars ARE a nice wheel, but it is no longer a custom or "personalized" look if you go to a meet and 86% of the same body cars have the same wheel. :eyecrazy
I look forward to seeing yours completed:buttrock :alright
