View Full Version : HELP!!! BMW's are becoming too normal!

I work at a dealership, and drive BMW's all day (definitely not complaining), and lately, I see a 325i automatic, and see it on the same level as *gasp* a Honda Accord. Not that Accords are bad cars, but, in my opinion, devoid of character.
Anyway, probably 50% of the cars we sell here are 325i's with automatics, usually silver with gray leather. And it's getting to the point where the only thing that gets my blood going is, say an ///M, or a 540i 6-Speed. Maybe a 4.6is. It's so frustrating!!!
What do I do???

I look at those stock 325i's the same way. Especially the ones with minimal option packages.. :dunno

Get in a Honda Accord, drive it around on some twisty roads, and remind yourself what the difference is between a Honda and a BMW. :D

:laugh this is much like being desensitized to what your girl gives you in bed... after viewing too much pron.

:devillook Not that I should know or anything:devillook

But yeah, I know what you mean. I only get excited when i see more rare models... such as ///M's, or 540 sikspeeds. But my appreciation still goes out to nicely modded bimmers :D

I think this goes back to the crackers... saltines vs. Ritz, baby!

In this scenerio, BMW=Ritz... while Honda(or insert another car make here) = saltine cracker.

Since all you do is eat Ritz ALL day long, you have maybe become somewhat desensitized (sp?). Go ahead and eat a generic saltine cracker or two... that should do the fix. :D

Nice analogy...

I'm not saying that I really think an Accord is on par with a BMW, obviously it's far inferior, but being around them all day has made the average BMW somewhat, I don't know, boring?

And I know what you're saying, we have an '01 Acura 3.2TL I drove today, and was just like...:az:

Atleast Honduh has improved on the Accord's styling over the last couple of years.

they're trying to make it look like the new 7 series...at least that's what I thought first time I saw it

I definitely don't like the back on it, but I like the front. Even though it looks EXACTLY like the new Altima, which isn't so new anymore....

Almost every car manufacturer model's their cars after BMW and Mercedes. I guess they do it to sell cars?

I like how the new accord coupe looks, but after consideration decided I would never buy one.

I think what you drive says alot about you so I'll stick with BMW, Jag, and Porsche thank you very much. :)

Later,
Tom

P.S. I am also desensitized. I really only turn my head for new body style M3's, M5's, and Z4's. For an e36 to turn my head it has to be yellow or avus blue... or have rims.

^^^ ^^^

Right? 'dat butt sucks a$$. :D

Geordie- I agree with you. Several years ago, I worked at Lexus and Infiniti (took time off from college after my divorce ***coughB!#@%cough***) and I too became used to these cars. I mean driving the GS300 through the twisties was hella fun. Some of the Infinity owners had modded their Q's slightly, and driving the stockers just didn't cut it anymore. Not that these $50,000 + cars weren't nice to drive back then. hehe

I have a feeling that as long as I am able to purchase one... and Bangle doesn't continue to fornicate the beagle any worse than has been shown, I will always have a Bimmer in the stable at my house... preferably next to a couple of other German, and Italian beauties. :D

it's like any other things that you desire. once you get it everyday you don't want it every freaking day.:mdrbig

btw all the M or AMG will turn my head, especially M5. But somehow I'm getting sick of seeing 5-6 E46 M3s every weekend and one silver M3 daily. yes you heard me 5-6 per weekend and 1 daily. the M3 won't turn my head anymore unless it's in Pheonx Yellow or Seca Blue or Topaz of course.

I know what he's saying about this post, BMW is becoming a popular car but I figure the more people driving them the better. The ones I don't like are the bare basic no options 323/325i 4 doors (which outsell coupes almost 5:1) and 525i's with small wheels or hubcaps and fake leather. Those people should just stick to Honda Accords, I swear they buy BMW for the Roundel.

My question is, who gives a damn about popularity? You know you're more of a BMW enthusiast than the next guy. You know you drive a BMW for the whole experience, not just for brand value. (although... it's a 320i, so not much brand value there... j/k) Let people think what they want, the fact of the matter is that you didn't buy a Bimmer for that. Don't let others' purchases effect you, what they care about you don't. It may seem like BMWs are like boxes of chocolate, every girl gets one for her birthday, but they aren't. They still are relatively low-volume sports luxury cars. I don't know where I was going with this, but I hope you kinda get the gist of it.
