I'm looking for a set of UHP tires that will be daily driven and tracked a few events a year. The Kumho MX has always done really well in this regard, but i'm wondering what other options there are.

The Falken FK452s seem like a good tire, but i can't find any info on how they hold up to the heat of the track. Any input? Any other suggestions?

I'd like em in 245/40-17 all around.

They wouldn't be what most would call a great track tire, but if you are looking to so some HPDE's they will work just fine. I doubt they would be quite as good as the Khumo's though.

i'm an intermedieat HPDE student and run about 3 a year. This year's tire budget calls for a set of tires thatll be daily driven and work for HPDEs. they don't have to be the stickiest fastest tire ever, i just want to be sure they'll hold up physically (no crazy chunking, etc) and won't get real greasy and loose when hot.

Any suggestions?

Expensive: Neovas, RE-01R
Middle: RT615
Cheap: Hankook RS2, Kumho MX

I have RT615s now and they are great for autox and track, but wear a little quickly for the street. Its *almost* worth it, but HPDEs arent competitions and neither is street driving so i'm willing to give up some of that performance for durability.

I'm going to rcomps for autox and occasional track.

The problem with FK-452's is that we have very little information about how they hold up on the track. I'd love to tell you they would be great, but I just don't know. I would look into the Khumo Ecsta MX for an inexpensive, streetable tire if you don't want to go with those Falkens.

well i ran them on my car at first and thought they sucked a big bite of understeering shit.... compared to my PS1's

I hated my 451s... Garbage tire.

Decent sidewall though.
