I just got my Motegi Racing DP10 rims and I was so excited to get them on my car. Went to put the lug bolts in and the hole in the rim is to small. Where do I go to get smaller (special) bolts?

Please help me I want to get these on right away, I only have a month or two left until winter time comes around.

Site of the rims, CLICK ME! (http://www.motegiracing.com/wheels/details.asp?parent=66&wheelid=64&name=DP10%20Hyper%20Black&pic=2407&style=2407&desc=)

I measured it up and the original bolts are:

12mm x 30mm x 1.5mm (width x length x pitch)

Now, I measured the rim and its 13mm (at the bottom of the hole, where it connects to the rim) and 20mm neck (hole). NOW, the head of the bolt is 23mm so YAY it doesnt fit. What do I do?

Another thing, right now the head of the bolt is... like this:

I'd take the wheels to a machine shop and ask them to make the stock bolts fit but that's me :)

No seriously, I live 3 hours away from Calgary, and that is the ONLY place I might trust. Everyone else just specializes in farm equipment and stuff like that... not rims for a car:P

Have you called Motegi to see what they recommend?

are you guys serious....
6 replies and no one knows the answer.

TUNER LUGS. You need tuner lugs.

Go to autozone. Or any other auto store. Buy tuner lugs. 12x1.5 is the thread size, regular length should be fine. They are smaller diameter heads for tuner wheels just like the ones you bought, usually they're driven by star or hex bolts on the inside, and should come with a key.

Enjoy your new wheels.

I think you need to get studs if you are going to use the street racer lugs. I doubt they make bolts for bmw/volkswagon.ect

so you are saying the bolt is too wide to fit in the rim and somebody else is saying to get bolts that aren't as wide???

so I may be missing something, but if you get a less wide bolt and put it through the rim, it isn't gonna thread into the hub becuase the size of that hole stayed the same.

But I may have misunderstoon you

I ordered them from a local car store for 70 bucks (with a special tool) and this is what it looks like, the thread and everything is the same, but the head of the bolt is thinner.

i was in the same situation as you but luckily the autozone down the street had the correct Tuner Lug bolts to fit the car. i was about to be pissed when i found out the stock bolts wouldnt fit. now i have a useless set of wheel locks too.

you got the allen bolt types? i opted for some wheel lock types that had a weird design and a special socket that came with them. lot of dough but i figured spending the cash on locks was better than buying more wheels.

wheel locks are crap....no one is just going to steal your wheels and leave the car...its faster just to steal the whole car....then they will strip the whole car not just the rims.....and plus dont let any place use a air gun on them and over torque them....or strip them out or loose the unlocking socket....then you are really screwwed

kickass dude - they look great! I'll file "tuner lugs" away in my brain for future reference.

It a good thing to know in advanced. Having brand new rims just sittin in your house sucks. I was so glad once I got them on!
