What tint should I get? [Archive] - Bimmerforums

I'm going to be retinting my windows soon but I'm not sure if I should get dark tint, light tint or metallic tint. What do you guys think??

Personally I have a black car with black and gray interior. My tint is 20% and at times it is hard for me to see out of the windows. When I am backing up and there arent any lights around it is very hard to see. But your car is white so it shouldnt be to bad. I would have to say it depends on where you live and how bad are the cops for pulling you over for illegal tint.:)

I would go with the light tint, because I have heard that it is hard to see at night with the dark tint.

why waste your money on tint... just go to a hardware store and spend $5-$10 on a can of balck spray paint and BAM instant tint for a fraction of the price:D j/k

a 20% smoked tint looks real nice and keeps the sun out pretty good. i have a 35% on my car and the sun still bothers me during the day. as far as the mirror tint...i hate that sh*t. IMO it looks like crap. but its your car what ever you choose, more power to ya'

I agree on the mirror tint. It does look cheap.

Does the 35% still bother you in the sunlight? How about at night?

I have 35% and have absolutely no problems at night. (Black interior) I think dark tint is asking for trouble in illegal states and I don't like mirror.

I like the darker tints...

Please just avoid the metallic/mirror tint. FUGLY stuff

just don't do metallic/mirror, some tints that are 35% keep as much heat out as the 20%, so thats something to think about.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm not a big fan of the mirror tint either but I have seen some light mirror tint that looked nice but I like the dark with white car look better. I think I'm going to to go with 20%.

Joe, did you tint your windshield?
is it legal to do that?

What kind of cost range does a good tint job for?
I've been thinking about it for a while, as I think a good tint really improves the looks.

My windshield is not tinted. My windows were tinted when I bought the car but its starting to come off now.

I have always liked silver and white cars with a Mirror Tint, my friends Silver 2002 Jetta has mirror tint and I think its looks REALLY good, but I seem to me in the MAJOR minority, so dont bother listening to my rambling :D

lemme know what kinda price ur getting. I am also interested in getting my car tinted, i plan to do 35%. I am currently on vacation in India and should be back soon. lemme know when u plan to go get ur car tented. also pls see if u can get a group price since we will have 3 cars for tinting.

Go to the V1 website. Any tint does effect V1 performance.

I like it on cool color cars. (white, blue, silver, green)

I think it looks best on white.

I don't think it would look good on copper, red or yellow cars though.
