I literally just drove an M roadster (Z3 body, not sure what's it's called) and then drove my car (99 M3) home like 20 minutes ago. The clutch felt pretty much the same. There were a lot of other differances, but the clutch wasn't one of them. Perhaps something is wrong with one of your cars, or perhaps a previous owner of the M3 went with an aftermarket or non-OEM clutch?

I hate soft clutches. If it feels like jello I always over rev it. Just have been driving hard clutches for a long time. All my hondas before this road on clutchmasters and usually unsprung. So when I felt my nice stiff M clutch I was really happy.

MY Z3 is an 02' 3.0i
it just the pedal on the M3 require much more leg force.. I mean it could be a workout machine
works fine just way more pressure needed
is there a pedal return sring on these?

If it's that stuff you probably don't have a stock clutch in there. There is no adjustment to make it less stiff.

May I ask how many miles is on the clock? I replaced my clutch at 120k miles and it was a night and day difference. It could be that your clutch is worn out.

The z3 have a different slave cylinder, but the difference you feel could very well be due to milage.

I just replaced my stock clutch at 106K. Got my new clutch and can't believe how Honda like it was! Almost
