For the last week or so now my M3 upon slow acceleration will get a definate hesitation at around 2800-3000 rpms and the check engine light comes on, after the rpms climb a little it goes away until it does it all over again at the next stoplight, any ideas or know what i can do to find the problem short of bringing it to the dealer? THX

You can buy one of those fault code readers. Peake makes 'em, about $150. If you have the full OBC, there's a way you can get fault codes from it. I can't remember the procedure. Search the archives or post for help reading fault codes. Good luck - Jay

Not sure, but maybe an O2 sensor? Definately see what OBC codes come up.

sounds like a possible crankshaft sensor going bad to me. CYA>PM3

Yep.... crank sensor was a recall a while ago.... Mine failed on me. The car will usually keep running... but then it'll stop working eventually.... let it sit for a while if it does it and it'll start up again. Overall, get your car to a bmw dealership ASAP.
