Nope, technically an aluminum housing isn't either, but I'll just take the protest if it happens. With any question of legality, if you aren't going to autox at the Nationally level, don't worry about someone questioning your water pump. You can't even really see it from a visual inspection.

Water pump who? Yeah, no one will know. I don't think any BMW would protest you for having a little extra cooling security. Subie guys won't know what to look for. :) Except that I read their boards so they probably read here. heh
