Has anyone heard or analyzed this system? Found it on an Audi post.
Also have a buddy who installed an MSD coil on his 635, but I could not find proper model. Does this do the same thing?

That sounds like it could possibly blow the coil, as the low-side inductors may not be able to accept such a high input current.
Thing is, though, the engines in the E24 chassis, with the exception of those powered by the S38 or M88, are all relatively low-compression motors by today's standards. (<=9:0:1) Thusly, even if you got this, I doubt it would do much.

I understand you can get a high compression re build.
Do you know who can do this and what is hp gain?
---I know, I know: get a turbo ;)

The "proper" way to bump up compression is to get custom pistons made. Using pump gas, and using a custom tune of the original Motronic 1.3 system (aka, no knock sensors) means you are limited to 10.5:1 or so on 91 octane. If you only drive the car in the south, you can go up to 11:1 (93 octane) but that is pretty dodgy, and the car can still ping on hot days.
Doing a high compression build usually means a full engine rebuild, as if you are changing out the pistons, you may as well rework the block, redo the crank bearings, etc. A competent mechanic with a bore honer should be able to do it.
The gains are about 10-15%, depending on the new CR versus the old one. It usually translates into about a 30hp gain. This is after about 1k for the pistons, (Weisco is good) then all labor. (usually about 2k for a block rework) Oh, and you will need a custom engine tune, which runs between 1-3k.

I get the picture: not worth it.
Better to...TURBO!!!!
TCD: $7G cost complete parts and labor?

Well...not exactly. The stage 1 kit, which would be a good starting point, is about 4k, and would give you probably about 300. Call Todd and ask him about it. Plus, you can add stage 2 stuff later without much trouble.
