I want to know what coil over to buy and I dont want to spend over $1000. Is the Bilstien PSS coil over good?? Anyone have it how does it combine with 17 inch wheels when its lowered to the maximum point?

I have the H and R at 1131.00 with a drop of 1 to 2.5" front and 1 to 2" rear. If you don't need the adjustability I have springs and shocks together for 659.00 total on either the Eibach Pro system of the Sport.
If I can help let me know.

I heard alot of people likeing the Koni's are they good or are the Bilstiens Better? Are the PSS coilovers from Bilstien hard to adjust I'm not very mechanically inclined so if I wanted to lower my car or for the track or make it higher for the streets would I have to take it to the mechanic all the time??

What do you wish to accomplish with the coilovers?
Do you just want height adjustiblity? Do you NEED height adjustibility? Do you wish to improve the performance of the car? For street use only or for track use?
In addition to that, what is wrong with your stock suspension that would make you want to get coil overs? Are you looking at coil over suspension because they're popular, or are you addressing specifc problems with your suspension?
Buying aftermarket upgrades without really knowing what you need, why you need it, is like choosing a Russian bride from a catalog.

If you want the height adjustable then the coil over is the way to go. They will improve performance as well as dropping the car. You do not have to take the car to the mechanic each time. You can do it yourself.
If I can help let me know.

i WAnt the coil overs so that I can sometimes track the car once a month and use it as a daily driver but the main reason I want the coil overs is because of the increased performance. If I were to but on the coil overs how high would my car be if the shocks would be at their maximum height would they be much lower than stock? Are the H&Rs that you mentioned very good are they as good quality as the bilstiens?

Get the Spring/Shock combo. It will give you the performance you want, the look (lowered) you are looking for and the ride you need for the street - AND-
It meets your budget. (This set up will work fine for track days / auto-X)
If you go with coil-overs, and don't understand the adjustment, you will end up with a car out of aligment, and will perform worse than stock. (i.e Cabmer Plates required for ultra low applications) You will need an alignment either way you go, but you really don't need coil-overs for what you are doing. Install the springs/shocks, get the alignment, and enjoy! You really don't NEED adjustable shocks, however if you get them, look for some advice regarding the dampening settings, or again, you can do more harm than good.
Hope that helps - Jim, set him up with a kit!

thanks for the input I will most likely get something from Bilstien becasue I saw how they performed and was impressed and I just wanted to know what else would I expect with a spring/shock lowered suspension, would I get uneven wear on my tires ?

If you go very low, you will need to adjust front (and maybe rear) camber. This can only really be accomplished with Camber plates and adjustable rear trailing arms. (The rear is only needed with very aggressive drops.) Otherwise, inside tire wear will be dramatic. The Bilstien kit is good, as are other CO kits. I have the Gound Control kit, which I love. If you keep ride height 1" - 1.5" lower, you can get by, but you will probably see some inner tire wear.
Don't forget to get a good alignment after install. Have fun with your project!!

I'd recommend a set of Ground Control or TC Kline's coilovers. You're going to get great quality and a better level of adjustment. The H&R's have too low of a spring rate if you're looking to track your car. After you get the coilovers on, you'll need a good alignment. That will prevent against uneven tire wear and maximize the performance of the car with the new suspension.

Where can I find ground control and since i'm a noob would it be a good idea for me to get my first high performance suspension a coil over ?? When you think of it I will most likely want a good low maintenance suspension now but in the future when I will want to advance I will have to shell out another 1000 or more for a better suspension such as a coil over. So in the long run the coil overs are a bit better well thats just my opinion what do you guys think?

+1 for TC Kline. I have them on my car. They're awesome. Did I mention we're an authorized TC Kline distributor? :alright

I had GC on my E30 M3, very aggressive ride but perfect in the turns. I have KW on my E36 M3, I like it just the same, but had no choice since they came on the car.

I've got INOX KW var. 2 coilovers, with perfect on 18". If you're using 17" you can order a shorter version to drop your car real low. I'ts also possible to order your set with shorter en harder (is that the correct word?) springs. I don't know if you can buy them in the US.

Honestly, just get some koni/H&Rs or Bilstein/Eibachs if you're on a budget. If you want to plan for the future, get some ground controls. You can increase/decrease the spring rates depending on what your objectives are. You can get the ground controls from www.bimmerworld.com.

I'd steer away from Tein, specifically for this reason: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=562007&referrerid=56200&highlight=Tein (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=562007&referrerid=56200&highlight=Tein%29%28Link:)
