hows it going, i'm trying to sell my car. my asking price is 6,500. heres some history on the car. I purchased it a year ago and have since invested 8 grand into the car and can provide receipts for almost every upgrade. heres a list
-new belts and sparkplugs replaced at 143k
- bilstein shocks
- hr lowering springs 2.5 in the rear 1.5 in the front
- new LCAS, ball joints, and bushings.
- new passenger window regulator and moto
- breyton magic 17x8 rims wrapped in cooper tires (abouot 90 percent tread life left on all of them)
-regular oil changes
the car recently passed inspection no problem. no known problems with the engine. has a clean title. as far as the exterior there is only one major scratch which i've provided a picture of and aside from that its just the normal chips and the paint is still in excellent condition. the interior is near perfect the only thing is i don't have a passenger door panel.
some bad things about the car:
sunroof needs new pulley system
transmission runs smoothly except for 2nd gear, the synchros is a little funky you just have to be smooth about shifting from 1st to 2nd other than that the clutch and tranny work properly.
overall a great car that has a ton of potential i just have the time or money to invest anymore. any questions just ask. heres some pictures.

Fairly interested...
The tranny problems and missing door panel are issues though.
How low would you go if I came and picked it up?

Nice car, but I don't see how you can possibly justify spending 8 grand for what you listed above. Most of that stuff is just maintenance, and the tires, wheels, and suspension might cost a few grand max.

8 grand is easy to blow through on that. all the suspension work i had done alone came to about 5,000. rims and wheels, window reg and motor. AC blower motor. it all adds up.

plus installations, plus regular matenience as well as other things that should be regularly replaced. look if i wanted to dispute how much i spent on this car i'd call up my accountant so unless you have a LEGIT question about the car, please, save your breath.

He already basically admitted that wasn't true:

unless you have a LEGIT question about the car, please, save your breath.
If you state in your ad that you have receipts for most of your work and quote the price of $5000 for your suspension, then the question is more than LEGIT! You are not doing yourself any favors in appealing to potential customers when you come across as being dishonest AND an A**hat.

i can provide receipts for all of this. like i said i didn't do any of the work myself so between parts and the cost of installations it came out to a decent ammount. i'm not being dishonest. if you want to speculate what you think i spent on the car be my guest, i could care less. but when you come on my thread where i'm trying to sell my car in an honest decent manner and you insult me then i have a problem. Don't call me dishonest and especially don't call me an "assh*t" (what are you 16, 17 years old?). I didn't realize i'd be put under such scrutiny for trying to sell a car.

Calm down joe, if anything you are getting some good bumps on your car...
Now, if you dont have anything to hide, why are you getting so defensive about it? Why not just list out what you did and how much you paid so that a potential buyer will realize what a great deal he/she will be getting on your car!
It just doesnt seem to add up that you would buy a car, then spend an additional $8,000.00 to fix it up, then only sell it for $6500.00!
If you post a car for sale and say it had X amount of money invested in it in the last year, be prepared to back it up...
Any potential buyer will ask these things anyway so why not just list what you have done?

interested in a trade for an mk3 gti vr6 with plenty of extras?

fair enough. well the story behind why i spent so much on the car is that I bought the car from a kid who was actually dishonest about the car, and i made a huge mistake by not having anyone check out the car. so a month or two after i purchased i had it checked out and there was a whole slew a problems with the car, which i fixed, almost all of them. i know i can only get 6,500 for the car which is why its priced at that, regardless of what i spent on the car to fix it up right. the REASON i'm selling it is because i'm going to purchase a new car, one where i don't have to worry about fixing every problem you can think of you have the car running right.
I'm not getting defensive, i don't have anything to defend myself against. I don't mind answering questions about the car, obviously, but i'd like to be addressed in a respectful manner. I don't like to be called dishonest, or childish names, or accussed of hiding something. Thats all.

i have a 96' Audi A4 V6 5spd Quattro in show room condition, with 173k and i get offers like $4,000 for it and i invested over 3k worth of work on service...i cant see how you want 6,500 for a car with 147k that needs obvious trans work, a missing door panel and god only knows about anything else. great if you get it....but i highly doubt you will...good luck

Well, I do agree with your appraisal of his car, but I just thought that I would point out that cars have different rates of depreciation. BMWs have decent resale value, but VW and Audi resale values pretty much suck. Mercedes is undoubtedly the best in that department, but BMW is pretty good, too.

like he said, audis don't hold residual value the same. compare a 2001 s4 to a 2001 m3 with the same mileage and there will be probably about a 10k difference. anyway, the 6,500 is a starting price and as i said it is negiotable.

good luck with the sale,
i'm not being a butthole or nothing...
but mods actually lower the value of the car.... door panels arent cheap and neither are trannsmissions, espicially if the person buying doesn't do their own work... and the headlights, corners, and taillights definetly arent helping....
all i'm really saying is that the price is a little high, but as you've stated price is negotiable, so good luck with the sale.
Like i said, i'm only trying to help, not trying to be a butthole. i know it sucks to lose money in a car, i lost thousands when i sold my 325is.... and i literally mean thousands.

with the price i have i'm already loosing thousands, the money i put into the car not to mention i paid way more than i should have. i'm just trying to save face and hope that i can get some money out of this car.
