I am having no luck selling this car. Could you guys give me some tips on the best way to sell a car like this?

2000 BMW 740i
Orient Blue
Gray interior
Radiator and waterpump have been replaced
Sport Package
Sunroof
Fully loaded
Navigation
120,000 miles
In VERY good condition
Tires are 80%
Only flaw is the pixel display
Asking $16,500

Have listed it in the local paper and autotrader.com but very little response.
Thanks for any input. Bill

BTW, The only reason i'm selling it, is because i need a truck for work. Not happy about it.

I believe you are asking too much for a vehicle with 120k. I bought a 98 with 82k for $9,300. If I had choice between both vehicle, the lesser miles will always win. Just my opinion. Good luck

It's a tough time to sell a gas-guzzling luxury sedan.

I'd buy it if I had the money :) Maybe lower your price a little bit and you may get more calls about it.

ya i think gas prices are a major neg. factor with our cars.. that and scary repair bills. My stealership socked it to me today with a $500 general module and 650 for a key lock cylinder. Unfortunately, I see a long road ahead now that i am approaching 100K. best of luck

This is funny. Every since I stated this thread, I've had people all over this car! Mostly wanna-bees with no money, but I've had a few semi-serious lookers also.

Why do all the online price guides (Kelley,NADA,Edmunds etc.) show a value of 18-20 grand when that is clearly not possible?

I feel ya. I have a 2001 Acura TL I am trying to sell. The car is perfect in every way and I have not had much activity. I have had more activity from Craigslist than my AutoTrader ad and in all (4) acura forums I have posted it in. Maybe the economy is scaring people a little.

Anyway, I have a very similar 740il to your car with the same miles. I would have thought it would be easier to sell myself. Good think I am not looking to unload mine anytime soon. Good luck with it and be patient. Any idea what you would get for a trade in? Just curious

I've never had a hard time to sell a BMW. Can you post some recent pics of your car?

hum...id say pricing is why.

my 98 shows a retail of $18k and a private party of $14k..but after research, i dont think it will sell for that. An mine only has 77k miles on it.

Im going to list it for $13k and draw a comparison to the $17k retail price.

Absolutely beautiful car, I hope you sell it for the right price.

Lower the price a bit and try autotrader.com.

I just bought my '00 sport for $16k with 97k on the clock. It looks awesome and the guy had done some very recent work on the car and it has widescreen navi and software upgrade. I looked at 6 or 7 in the tri-state area and found this to be the best. Lower your price a bit and it should sell. Good luck!
