hi, i've been on here for a while, kind of a lurker.. A friend of mine's boss is looking for a 700 coupe for sale, color doesn't matter, the car doesn't have to be running, it doesn't even have to have a motor/tranny. a rolling chassis with a full interior will do...
i thought you guys might be able to point me in the correct direction :D
thanks in advance!

I too have been considering one of these classics. It was the first BMW to feature the legendary independant trailing arm rear suspension. It also paid for the new class 1500's that are so popular.
There are many engines that would fit in the back of that thing. The later, but less eye pleasing, L version had several inches added to the rear. That engine compartment would be very accomodating.
There are a few contentions. The car has drum brakes all around. So if any kind of power was added, you need to swap in some discs. The front axle is solid, but still sporty because of the light front end and rack and pinion steering. It appears to have offset front seats, probably because of the compact(Isetta) front end and front tires that enter the passenger compartment footwell. That along with a 2 cylinder would probably get old on anything less than a shot trip.
I've seen one that had the 2002 Turbo seats added. That would help.
A 4 or 6 cylinder bike engine with cruise control would make for some fine motoring.
I'm not a big fan of the Mini because it is FWD. This is more like a Mini 911 with an American 60's car body. Good luck.
Sorry to get off topic.
