agree, if you can't use your favorite SSK, what's the point?

I think you can probably make one of those or have one made for less than $50. It looks like it would take forever to shift gears.

I would think that would screw everything up in the trany if the extra supports were not installed. If the plate is installed, and the trany still moves around, what is going to happen? If the trany moves too far, you could shift into the right gate, but the wrong gear.

Right. I thought the mis-shift was partially from driver error, but mostly from the engine/tranny mounts being too soft and allowing too much side-to-side movement.
Plus I never liked the Ferrari gated shifters.

well.... at least with a gated shifter... you can never say you dont know what gear you're in or sliding into

No, that's what I meant. You may think you're shifting into 3rd, but with the tranny moving all around, you may be going into 1st.

I've never had the pleasure (or displeasure?) of shifting with a gated shifter. But don't all Ferraris have this type of shifer?
I always wondered how you can shift quickly with this kind of setup. Anybody care to enlighten me? Just from pure looks, it seems that it would be hard to shift quickly.

Slam hard to the right and up as you shift. You shouldn't have to worry about skipping 3 gears up (2 to 5) as long as you push up hard enough, for you'll only make the first switch over, and not the next. I think that's the theory behind it.

this won't prevent misshifts that are caused by tranny movement. You will go from the gate for 5 to the gate for 4, and still end up in 2, or something of the sort, if you are cornering, etc. So it is a waste of $$$. You will be in the same boat as if you knew how to shift properly.
why not just learn to shift? If you learn the proper method of shifting, there is almost no way you will go in to the wrong gear without any transmission shifting etc.....you will always go to the right gear because the motions are completely different. Going from 3-2 and 5-4 for me are wildly different motions.

i honestly posted this more of a joke than anything. I was just curious to see what you guys reactions are about the thing. I think its horrendous and I would never put it on my bmw. I agree.. learn to shift. I fu*ked up and money shifted my 3.0L , 3 months ago..... so i learned the hard way. Either way, 600 bucks for a stupid thing like this is just... not worth it.

I'm gonna screw a 2x4 to my console so I can only get at 1,2, and R. That way I won't have to worry about it.
Maybe I'll patent it...I could be rich!
