I've seen this mentioned, but I can't really see the difference...??

The whole nose panel someone said might is different?

Hmm I think I see it. The edge of the grill, the actual kidney is thicker, making the grill look smaller. So is it just that or the nose panel too?

Other than looks, is there a mounting difference between them? In other words, are all E36 grill housings compatible with '97 grills?

I believe you need the full nose panel, not just the grills; but I maybe wrong. IMO the pre 97 kidneys look much better, specially when blacked out.

They will bolt up either way, I have a post 97 on my 92

did you happen to upgrade your 92' nose panel?

I know the cut-out on pre/post nose panel is different.

You guys need to upgrade your nose panel to 97+ nose panel to fit 97+ grills

pre 97 grills will not fit post 97 nose panel
post 97 grills will not fit pre 97 nose panel

btw that picture above of the blue car, that is not a 97+ grill, that is a pre 97 grill that has been modified ie "wide grill"

run a search on ebay there are tons of them, that is another alternative for newer look.

I replaced the whole nose panel...well i didnt my buddy did i was too drunk and when i saw it the next morning it was done....God the Marines have made me a drunk
