View Full Version : Door Locks - Possessed?

After searching for quite a while, I still have no answer to my problem. I think that my door locks may be "possessed". When I lock or unlock the driver's door, the locks unlock/lock unlock/lock over and over again. Sometimes it is only twice, sometime more than 10 times. People walking by give me funny looks and ask what is wrong.
I can only open the door while leaning against it to press it inward. Of course, that is only when I am coordinated enough to press the door in while the locks are in the 'unlock' phase. I have a feeling that the door may just be out of line a bit, but it is starting to drive me crazy. I have only owned the car for a week, but am the kind of person that likes everything on a vehicle to work properly. Can someone tell me if I need an exorcism or maybe just a wrench?

my honda just started doing that for some reason. I would bet on it being a bad wire connection or relay.

sounds like a mechanical bind inside the door itself.
Mine did that kinda stuff when the rod that the lock knob attaches to was binded up behind the door panel

mine did something like that, not like 10 times like yours..more like twice. anyways like yours, I had to lean on the door to lock it or unlock it, later on I found out it was a connection in my driverside door

my car is having a similar problem, but i usually just press the door in and it stops, so i dont know, have you noticed it only does it when it is hot out? b/c my car seems to like doing it more often when its a hot day (95+)

Thanks to everyone for the input. I will pull the door panel and see what is going on back there. I live in Florida, so every day is brutally hot and humid right now.

Boy I hear that. I am ready for a hurricane to hit us just to cool things down.

Go open your trunk and look on the drivers side of it. You'll see a black tube on the top of the car/ buttom of the trunk lid. Cut that black sheath open very carefully and look inside. Some of the wires might be disconnected because of the angle that the trunk closes. I actually had the same problem as you and did what im telling you now. That fixed my problem. I had like 3 wires that were completely unattached. A little solder and some electrically tape latter and all is well. Good luck,

Last night I experimented...
If I shut the door so that it's not fully latched/flush with the rest of the body and I try to lock it, it will immediatly unlock itself.
So there is something for the door that senses if it's fully closed or not and if it malfunctions, then it'll do what you are experiencing.
I can tell you what it is, you have a bad earth connection somewhere in the central locking circuit, I had the same sorta problem down here in OZ with one of our home made cars (Holden), thats what was the problem, find that loose earth and it will solve all your problems...
When you do find what the problem is let us know..
